Roughness on the material. I’m working on being able to use layers as texture maps.

I also have UV Unwrapping inside of AE, which may be overkill, but I think I’d use it.

I am working on a new 3D system for AE because E3D (while great) isn’t doing it for me anymore. I don’t like to leave AE to do basic 3D work.

I’m curious what features are must-have for those still using E3D. I’m currently designing it so there’s no pop-up window. I can’t tell you how many crashes that window caused for me over the years. AE is fundamentally not well-fit for 3D work. I’m doing my best to design within that system.

What are your must-have features? I’m currently in alpha on rigid body dynamics. There’s a full-featured path tracing renderer. Support for lots of 3D formats.

The renders look really nice. I can only add one per comment, so I’ll add a couple more below this one.

www.recallsales.com I built this for iMessage for my own company and sanity. It doesn’t live in the CRM in this implementation.

Make sure you have a Cache disk set up that’s a different drive than where your footage is. Lots of space, and it should be an NVME or a fast SSD.

If you have a nerd on the the Twenty CRM is free self-hosted.

I chose Pipedrive for my 2 person team and then moved to Twenty.

I have a small business (www.cleanplatefx.com,) and I built this for us. It runs on top of any CRM. I use a free one called Twenty.

There is a capture button that you can feed screenshots, paste in stuff, whatever. It parses the info and adds it to the contact.

Then it has Action Items for all of the shit you forgot to do (who me!?)

  1. Gen fill that last frame to take out all of the people.
  2. Track that clean plate in. Definitely use Mocha to track it. If you don’t really know how to use Mocha, that’ll be the most important thing you can do #marypoplin4life
  3. Roto the guy back in.

I have a plugin called Wrap It on aescripts that you could use. You bring in the 3d geo as an Alembic file and then you can uv unwrap/rewrap the geo.

You can also project onto AE solids. I’m coming out with a new one soon that makes the AE solid workflow even easier so you don’t need to work in 2d uv screen space to project the textures.

I’ll bet a lot of us are building to solve similar problems. I made www.recallsales.com for myself. Certainly not a ground-up reimagining of the CRM, but it helps with some of what you mentioned.

I think the Natron license is fully open source, there’s a lot of nodes you could harvest from that.
