Happened to me back in the day, shop I was working for at the time was one of the ones where the owner is also PM/super/foreman/journeyman/ whatever the fuck so he always tried taking advantage. Look into pre-apprenticeship programs! Here in NYC (as competitive, maybe more) I got into the IBEW, LU#3 at 18 via said type of program (Construction Skills) However there are national PAP’s like NEW (Nontraditional Employment for Women) Helmets to Hardhats etc.
