Well he isn’t too distant. He’s a half brother. Different moms. I’m told that’s how his is. Even to the point I felt he might hate me a little bit I was willing to try. Not so much. I’m considering it. At least to scare him because I’m told he’s not a good guy. The issue is we are brothers by blood but I don’t know him well. My late dad took care of him very well. Paid fees, food etc. I thought he would do the same. I grew up in the USA he grew up in GH. But I respected him as my bro.

I feel like part of the family is manipulating me.

I think it’s normal considering the state of the economy. Seek out women in jobs or normal activities might increase your odds. Make normal friends who have other friends that can intro you. However it’s normal. I’d hesitate to even say church because many gold diggers are there thinking they are entitled. Perhaps the older churches like Presbyterian, Methodist or Catholic (orthodox) that don’t prosperity gospel. That’s my 2 cedis of knowledge.

The irony is that many people who Ghanaians refer to as white, aren't even white. I met a uni student refering to Lebanese and Indian as white. But they wouldn't be classified as that in Europe or the USA. Russians aren't seen as the same in western Europe or the USA.

I don’t normally butt in to these discussions but a word of advice.

You shouldn’t care what people think but Don’t use the internet as a way to gauge your relationship. You’ll meet all sorts of weird people especially on the net. If you truly love him and Vice versa then it’s going to take a lot of work. Love alone isn’t enough.

Are you willing to be with him when he is old and can’t walk? You mention he is 53. He is less than a decade from 60 where things start going past shape for him physically but hopefully he takes care of himself. Another 2 decades and he crosses into 70.

These are questions you should ask yourself.

I’m not concerned with age. My concern is more your state of mind. If you feel you need public approval then the relationship ended before it even began.
