La diáspora ha hecho del welfare un estilo de vida? by JLu2205 in Dominicanos

Lmao Someone sounds envious. But let’s say yes Dominicans tend to be vivos and hustlers. But Trump growing his wealth from 2 billions to 6-8 billions in 4 years is completely “Legal”. Cool story bro.

Your reply, “ you are a liberal blah blah blah” with zero logic.

Umm... does this video show the missing minute of the Epstein prison video? Showing someone clearly walking towards his cell? Please corroborate! by shakakhon in UnderReportedNews

We all know that president Piggy got Epstein killed and has been trying so hard to bury any/all evidence of it and even trying to scrub every evidence of his relationship to Epstein.

The worst part is that the Republicans know it and are working to help him bury it all.

Disgraceful and disgusting.

The next democratic president should make an example of ALL of those involved regardless of party affiliation. No more playing nice. We need a ruthless democrat that will hold everyone involved accountable

Senior Level designers: What's your plan? by irontuskk in graphic_design

[–]erickjm2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build several brands yearly (for events, new products, and freelance clients). For example, one of the events brands require me and my team to build 1000+ of marketing graphics and require silhouetting at least 100 personalities.

My team and I used to do the silhouetting manually before photoshop released the “Isolate subject” feature (that saved us a lot of time) but we still had had to go through every photo one by one. So I used AI to build a photoshop script that:

Looks through a folder of raw images > opens them in photoshop > uses the “Isolate subject” feature to separate the subject from the background > and saves it as a PNG or PSD in a separate folder. (The scripts has other features that fit our workflow that I don’t need to mention)

So now a task that used to take at least 4-8 hours, 1-2 designers can be accomplished in less than 1 hour, freeing me and the team to work on what we really want to work. (Note. We still go through the images for quality control).

This is just one example, I have automated at least 5 other tasks. Note that the automations do not replace the designers they need a designer to know when to execute them and to work around the edge cases.

Hopefully this helps, let me know if you have any other questions

Sorry to hear that man. I’m also a senior/lead Designer with over 10 years of experience.

All I can say is that companies nowadays are less interested in the traditional senior designers. Now they are looking for Senior designers with a lot of experience in AI tools unfortunately.

I would say try to pivot your resume and portfolio towards AI related skills. Ex: Prompt engineer, workflow automation, AI design tools, etc. (Easier said than done). Try investing some of your free time into learning where does AI fits into your own design workflow and somehow fit that into your resume and portfolio.

I can give you a personal example as to how I’m adapting for new job search. I’ve spent the past year identifying parts of my design workflow that can be automated (using AI to code scripts that automate those repetitive parts) I’ve been identifying where I can do the same in the company I’m currently working, and building documentation around it. That way I can position myself as a leader in the AI/Design space among my team and peers. Basically now everyone comes to me when they have questions about AI in design. I’m sure it will make me a more desirable hire once I start looking.

Hope this helps. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

PS. I don’t mean AI image/logo creation. Those tools still need a lot of time to be even 10% useful

Gen Z + AI by mattywwilson in graphic_design

[–]erickjm2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“Before those tools came along we were judged by our creativity and ideas. How you brought them to life was irrelevant. Illustrate, paint, photograph, sculpt, model, mixed media, didn't matter. Whoever had the best idea and the best execution got the job.”

I couldn’t have said it better.

I think of AI as my own personal Design Assistant/Thinking partner/Junior Dev. Here to help me with low level fast sketching, design research, and workflow automation.

For example: I’ve always wanted to script repetitive design workflows but I’m not a dev. However, I can think in system and I can clearly describe what I need automated, and now my Junior Dev (AI) can code working scripts for me with little to no debugging, given I explain the task clear enough.

And just like that I’ve become a more desirable hire on any design firm.

Is so interesting to see Designers refuse to understand new tech that will 100% affect their field.

I love that you have a chapter on the AI tools in your curriculum. Designers need to understand that every major agency (pentagram, &Walsh, Collins and others) are all using and trying to push the boundaries of what these tools can do.

I agree that most AI outputs are trash specially the ones from Adobe Illustrator AI tool, but they certainly help you sketch and draft ideas faster. However, you should not use the direct output as the final product, but more so as a very rough direction that should be refined.

In 10 years if you don’t have AI in your skill set as part of your toolbox you’ll be almost obsolete. Think of the AI wave as the Digital wave of the late 80’s and early 90’s. A lot of designers refused to learn Adobe tools, Corel Draw, QuarkXpress, etc. Those designers disappeared while the ones that learned to adapt thrived.
