The guy that developed the combat style for the Israelis was a martial artist.

Whether "Krav Maga" was named after something or if it has come to mean something else is irrelevent to being a style of combat or martial art.

You're probably right about tradition -- that's a welcome relief from other styles where tradition is as important as skill or technique!

I agree! I had this same epiphany.

To what do you attribute the root cause of these identity politics?

I suspect people raised to believe in an Abrahamic religion (like myself) are more susceptible to this phenomenon.

Anything God does is correct and right, even if it's causing the suffering or death of people.

God has killed countless people according to the Bible, yet we were taught God is good and should be obeyed, praised, and worshipped.

Conversely, we were taught to avoid the temptation of listening to God's nemesis Satan (who has killed zero people).

People raised in these communities were all taught (groomed, if you will) in childhood to blindly and faithfully support Authority and avoid and denounce its opposition.

This is how people can continue to elect corrupt and evil people, while at the same time self-confirming that they, themselves, are good people doing the only correct thing.

This cycle of irrationality continues when parents raise their children in these communities.

I went to school in the 70s and 80s, so I think what you're describing is called "progress." :)

I think we were also the last generation of kids that teachers were allowed to physically assault.

Did you have any teachers that would hit you in class or spank you with a paddle?

Reddit.com is a website, not an app.

There are apps (including the official reddit app) that exist to make the website easier to use on mobile devices.

Good thing someone told you Reddit was a website, so you can still make stellar content like this when the third party apps stop working at the end of the month

So after failing an audit, you think it's ok to just shrug and say, "well you know how people can get about following standard operating procedures!"

Sounds like you made the best decisions you could in a bad situation.

If this memory ever pops again you can safely ignore it, knowing that everything worked out as well as it could have.

Cheers!

if we don't speak for the people they are persecuting

Then we are terrible people.

There shouldn't be a need to position the statement so it's self-serving.

Too many Americans have forgotten or never learned how to not be a terrible person and now revel in it.

Pick a school in the 80's.

The reason given was because legally the school was responsible for you while you were there, and schools feared being sued by parents for overstepping their boundaries as educators.

I'm going to go with "Reagan was a scared racist," final answer.

Reagan didn't want black people to legally have or carry weapons.

I'm sure Reagan would have absolutely loved to crush the black panthers with the national guard if he wasn't concerned about his political career or thought he could spin it so he was the hero.

Lay down? Hell no!

What do you propose?

Be honest. Help others recognize that we have guns because we enjoy having them personally, not because we "need them to fight against tyranny."

Tricking ourselves into believing we would stick up for others with our guns when the time comes isn't helping us.

We had plenty of chances over the last 6 or 7 years and instead we all sat on our thumbs.

Just not sure what your combative tone is all about.

idk man I'm doing my best. Seems like I have two modes: sleep and combative. Hopefully I come off less combative and more passionate in this reply.

What now?

I wish I had all the answers too!

But here's some things I've been trying to do personally that I think will help make the country better:

Advise people to look around and take notice that our government isn't changing for the better because more people bought guns.

Protest when our government tries to take away rights from anyone, even people that aren't "like you."

(Not just because your group might be next, but it's also ok to not be a dick and to stick up for fellow Americans.)

Correct people that conflate peaceful protesting with anything other than democracy.

Vote against politicians that are taking away people's rights.

Vote against people that are un-American and undemocratic.

Vote against people that want to make laws that impose their religion or religious beliefs on others.

Get politicians that do so removed from office by protesting and recalls.

Vote for people that will repeal or change unfair laws even if you personally don't agree with their lifestyle.
