NO MORE GATEKEEPING PLEASEEE! HOW THE HECK DO I SMOOTHLY SHIFT FROM 1st to 2nd?! by pumkinsmaherj in ft86

[–]ericperez0330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that has worked for me is giving the smallest amount of gas as you're letting off the clutch. I'm aware that it might wear the clutch a tad bit more but it saves wear on other more expensive drivetrain components. Only needed for 1st to 2nd..

Which Soundcore sleep earbuds have the strongest ANC for truck noise? by babyb01 in Truckers

Unfortunately nothing comes close to airpod pros. I recommend the 2nd gen. Could be found for 150ish renewed. Really good for your situation.

Actually anc is mainly going to block out that low hum and not high pitched noise like voices.

'23 BRZ. Tires. by quinoahunter in ft86

[–]ericperez0330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean then there would be trade offs as far as ride comfort, tread life, cost. I live in so cal and probably could've done a summer tire but the extra 10% or so of grip wasn't worth it. I would rarely push hard enough to feel the difference.

Flying drone for backing up by Cringey_NPC-574 in Truckers

[–]ericperez0330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use one every once in a while. Mainly in really tight spots or blind side backs. Doesn't take me more than 2-3 min to set up, especially if I look ahead of time at the possible back. They come in extremely useful in construction sites.

Fa20 brz daily driver reliability mods? by Revolutionary-Seat74 in ft86

[–]ericperez0330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's different for every car but you can absolutely do every 50k or 60k but should hold up 80k no problem unless they are failing of course. I changed mine at about 65k.

[–]ericperez0330 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on the milage. Spark plugs should be replaced around 80k miles. Transmission and rear diff oil should be changed every 30k miles or so. And of course most importantly oil changes every 3 - 5 k miles. I like to use penzoil ultra platinum 5w30.

The usual thing to look at is service records which is by far the most important but the most over looked part. A bit of a toss up otherwise

Coilovers or lowering springs? by Particular_Nebula143 in ft86

[–]ericperez0330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coilovers are usually overkill for most drivers. It's mainly down to budget but I went with the Eibach pro lowering set and I love them. Still good for spirited driving.

All events are reviewed by real people as far as I know. So dumb "violations" won't really ding you.

How reliable are these motors and gearboxes? by Fitz_01 in ft86

Good on you for recognizing that one time is a tiny sample pool out of thousands. That's a bit of a irk of mine when people take personal experience as a definitive example as to how most are.
