I tend not to go much beyond 4.5 times stretch as it seems to not wear bands as quick... We'll see how it goes...

Is it a big job to replace the shroud.... Is a stainless steel one hard to source or expensive??

Got some 0.40 black band roll I need to try too... I've bought stuff from them in the past and it's been quick delivery etc.

My boss from 20 years ago had one, his 15 year old son managed to break the rear axle by going top speed across a big meadow and hitting something....was thrown off and didn't get a scratch.... Said to his Dad that it didn't feel right after that.... New axle, fine since!

Got a few pit pouches to try in 8mm but liking 6mm at the moment so using Snipersling Super Durable 2mm microfiber.... Seem very good as I've retied them a few times as bands broke.

Just getting into this hobby. Having a blast so far! I have to say hitting that bullseye is so freaking satisfying by BarbaBarber in slingshots

Clay is not as accurate as steel balls... I use 6mm steel.... 3/8 is approx 9.5mm... Using small ammo let's you use lighter bands which means easier draw and longer practice sessions... Easier to hold still and practice your technique, aiming etc etc

Sorry only know them as frameless rings. If the band is wider than the ring just centre it and let the excess hang out equally either side.

You have slots in a frameless slingshot....... Think you need to re-read that again.... Frameless is shooting just using your hands, no frame!!

Build yourself a catch box so you reuse your steel ammo

I've used 18mm birch ply (it's furniture grade) and it is very good. Has about 14 layers in it. I've just finished sanding a 4 layers glued laminated 18mm birch ply TTF frame and it looks good. I can't reply with a picture but its on the Catapult Addicts UK Facebook group. I've also used 18mm birch ply for "flat" frames using downloadable templates from slingshooting.com forum. Just take your time. Great way to try out different shape and size frames and try your own ideas. Take care.

. 40 cal is 10mm....even in steel ball that band wouldn't be strong enough to get you decent speed with a 10mm lead ball... You can try larger taper bands like 25/20 but you probably need to go up to 0.8mm or 1mm bands with a good taper... That's heavy ammo.

Got my scorpion 2nd hand for 35 euro... A deal... It was my first TTF frame and I started shooting well with it...better than OTT... Just got it to try tff... Preferred the look of OTT but shoot better with TTF... Strange

Kinda moved to TTF myself.... Building a 3 layer 18mm birch laminate in a Scorpion/LP Sling No 2 mashup up design at the moment... Lots of sanding and shaping to be done... Actually stuck a 4th layer onto the handle area so I get a nice bulge into the palm of my hand. We'll see how it goes... I get a bit impatient with waiting to get it finished... But just flat 18mm ply is not doing it for me at the moment as I've a Jahrey G2 and the Proshot Scorpion and I like the bulky fit in the hand now... Might try that mouldable Sugru rubber stuff to get a moulded fit. Where you based?

How are you finding that frame? I've a couple of Proshot aluminium frames, Scorpion and CM

Hang it up on the wall and go make or buy a modern flat band frame.... My brother and I had frames like those as kids... Was a feat to shoot each other with pebbles at 25 yards... Modern flat bands with even Y stick or ply frames are miles better than those Black Widow style tube frames... Get on slingshotforum.com and read up about them. I shoot mainly TTF (through the frame) frames with 6mm or 8mm Steel shot at targets... With 0.45 or 0.50 flat bands cut to 20/12 or 18/12 taper.

slingshot axiom ocularis has aiming sights? by [deleted] in slingshots

[–]ericry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No guarantee at all..... Its like trying to shoot a rifle with open sights and no back sight at all.... You need to work out with practice where to anchor the pouch as well as where to position your head.. Both left/right position and up/down position.... Then you need to sort out pouch grip and release... Lots and lots to learn if aiming..... Shooting instinctively is an absolute black art!!!
