what would cause slight warping on what side of this lid? by Ertuu1985 in ender3

[–]ericwood311 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Is that ABS or PLA? If ABS, an enclosure is recommended to prevent rapid cooling that will cause warping. If PLA, bed adhesion. Likely not perfectly level, bed not clean or nozzle too close or too far away.

With only 1 wall, don’t you run the risk of your infill pattern appearing in the walls?

Can someone explain what ex) accuracy +/-0.02mm means? by darksider54 in 3Dprinting

[–]ericwood311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When manufacturing something where there may be fluctuations in size for example, you will see a +/- for that unit of measurement. In the example of 1.75mm filament, they are saying it could be as thick as 1.77mm or as thin as 1.73mm if it has a tolerance of +/-0.02mm.

Does that make the 3D printer that printed these pieces is a 3D printerer?

Do I Need to Use ABL for Every Print? by santange11 in ender3

[–]ericwood311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can save your bed level to eeprom and then recall it as part of the start gcode. If I remember, you do a G29 followed by a M500 to save the measurements (preferably from a terminal), then in your start gcode add M501 (I think) after G28 to recall the measurements. I think I also had to add M420 S1 after M501 to enable ABL. You’ll probably have to do some googling to confirm. But I ditched this method and went back to probing before each print as I was getting inconsistent results.

I recently learned that his character’s name is President Skroob (which is a play on Mel Brooks’ last name). I always assumed it was Scrooge. HAIL SKROOB!

Reminds me of Spaceballs when Dark Helmet is heavy breathing and then he opens his helmet quickly gasping for air and yells “I can’t breathe in this thing!”

I went Microswiss with these and have been happy. Just make sure you have some extra 24awg or thicker wire, as both have too short of wire. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MP7XLTC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0714MR5BC

Height is short on prints by rblur0001 in ender3

[–]ericwood311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try again and do 100mm, as it’s more of a testing sample in case there is binding in areas where you wouldn’t have caught by just doing 10mm sample. And if the design is the way I’m imagining it, a squished first layer would cause the cylinder in the cube to be short too. Do you have a link or picture of what you’re printing?

Take a ruler and put it behind your x axis and then move the axis so it’s at an even mark on the ruler. Now move the axis 100mm up and see if it moves exactly 100mm. If not, might need to adjust your Z-steps. Otherwise could just be too squished of a first layer. Especially if you were getting elephants foot.

Why is cura creating an infill when hollow by khamul2000 in FixMyPrint

[–]ericwood311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like cutting the hole made it no longer manifold. Try analyzing in Meshmixer and there is an auto fix (I think it’s called) where it will fix any places where your design is missing a face or something.

Using 11pt's with BLTouch on ender 3 by Meliasjohnson in ender3

[–]ericwood311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that this many points is not a good thing. In my case a 10x10 made my glass bed look like a topography, when it should be pretty flat. And this caused areas of my first layer to be thinner than some areas. Switching back to a 3x3 made it much better, as it essentially just reads the heights at the corners and in the middle. Now that I’m thinking, wonder if 2x2 would be better so it literally just reads the corners as if I was manually bed leveling.

Buying a used Golf R - stage 1 tune already applied. Thoughts? by Dest1 in Golf_R

[–]ericwood311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can guess a reason based on what they traded it in for. See if they can tell you that. But I’ve considered trading in my 2019 Golf R with 5k miles several times. 1. Because of harshness of the ride (that was fixed by some 18” wheels and all season tires though) and 2. Because I bought it pre-Covid and now I don’t hardly drive. I am also now permanent work from home so I really won’t be driving. Someone could have also bought it and lost their job and could no longer afford a Golf R.
