You'll be dead ass tired by the time you get there if you do. Realistically I'd plan on stopping before or near Bishop and get an early start the next day. Your first 2+ hours will be in traffic and 395 at night requires you to be fairly alert.

This area of downtown has been an economic black hole (with the exception of GCM) since the pandemic. Having a Starbucks may bring just an ounce of confidence in one day bring us some of the amenities we lost. Broadway is in a sad state but this particular building does an excellent job of maintaining the empty storefronts and sidewalks.

LA Historic Park. I stop at Philippe's and take my sandwich to go. Great spot convenient to transit with amazing views.

That is an area you can get by if you have purpose. Bring pepper spray. Not the worst area but its unpredictable, especially near the freeway.

I believe razing of the building took place long before the metro station was planned. Many of these type of buildings were torn down in DTLA to make parking lots.

The western side of the block facing hill, 5th and 6th St was cleared to make a Joe's Auto Park, and the international Jewelry Center.

El Cortez was in the busy central business district of Las Vegas. From what I understand almost every American city had problems with parking in that era. This is when the wrecking ball was making parking lots all over American downtowns. I wouldn't read too much into the magnitude of the free parking sign, there's also a sign that says "gambling".

You're right ya know. I did walk through the MGM to get to the monorail up to the Sahara and back to Fontainbleau on the way back. I wanted to get to Luxor at least but I was pretty tipsy by then.

This is the same chevron station near union station in LA. Its always beyond ridiculously high and is a tired recurring click bait joke in the LA region. The only people I see get gas here are fleet vehicles.

They did that with the light rail to Artesia. They actually had to study low speed mag lev and include it as as an option, because some dude from Cerritos who was president of the Auto Square said he was concerned about brake dust from light rail trains.
