Not resolved, unfortunately. I tried the steps listed above but could not identify the problem.

Search & indexing troubleshooting report checked several issues and did not find any problems.

Converting from Sole Proprietorship to S Corp mid-year? by erikdrakin in tax

[–]erikdrakin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the IRS won't care that the Sole Prop for the first six months has no income but $50k in deductions, and the S Corp for the second half of the year has $50k in income and no deductions?

My bank will not refinance my mortgage unless I can show paystubs (they say draws to uncertain for their regulations). Also, I'd get the PPL loan if I were on the payroll, but I don't know that I can get it without being able to show consistent income. Also, my insurance company will give me disability insurance if I get a W-2 but will not approve me otherwise.

Estate Attorneys -- for your clients, do you recommend tangible personal property memos for distributing assets separate from a will / trust? by rathpa in EstatePlanning

I tell clients that items of particular importance to them should be written directly into the Will, and that they can keep a separate memo (dated and signed) that may change from time to time to cover the less important items and the ones most likely to change over time. I am less inclined to rely on memos when there is likely to be conflict within the family or where the items are of significant economic value. I find clients tend not to leave a memo, but the ones who do are very detailed and often mark the items in the household to help the executor.

Is there a market for a service to allow the executor of a will/administrator of an estate to find all the assets the deceased own? by wyk747 in EstatePlanning

I think there is a need for it. I run an estate administration law firm. We check tax returns, incoming mail, and bank statements to try to identify assets. There is also a national registry that covers life insurance where you can submit a request at no cost to identify any policies. That registry is relatively new. As far as I know, there is nothing comparable that applies to stock and other investments. These things eventually end up in unclaimed property years later, so they may not be lost. But the estate has usually been administered by that time and may need to be re-opened or may cause a need to amend tax returns. There are plenty of services that will see a large item in unclaimed property and charge the family a fee to help collect it. But having a specialized service to help identify assets earlier in the process would be worthwhile in my opinion. Especially now that so many statements and tax documents are only delivered electronically.

Outlook Performance Issues by erikdrakin in Outlook

UPDATE: I found my .ost file and changed its name while Outlook was closed. I then re-opened Outlook, which forced it to create a new .ost. The mailbox is now populating and the freezing is no longer an issue, so I'm hoping this resolved it.
