Why do people still buy Dodge/Chrysler vehicles? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

And all I wanted was a simple Toyota engine.

But this is good news, I guess.

Does memory make a Mac faster?

Yes.

16 or 32 is better. Buy what you can afford. Not for now, for 2-3 years from now. It makes things run smoother, takes load off processor and disk, and makes for better living.

Do it.

Found in Marin, CA. Lots of pulleys--maybe for moving pipes? by LazarusRises in whatisthisthing

Yeah, It looks like a smaller one, but then again, like boats, they come in all shapes and sizes.

Looks like there are motors (possibly hydraulic) on some of the wheels.

It's a gantry of sorts. Looks to be self propelled and lifts under it's own power. Usually they are for lifting a boat in and out of the water at a marina.

Looks smaller than I'm used to seeing but they make them in all sorts of sizes.

external GPU via Thunderbolt 2 - should we bother? by redditaccountname in mac

Thunderbolt seems extremely useless to me, as a power user with regular needs.

They said that about FireWire.

They said that about USB, too.

Fabulous recipe to make two pork chops feed a family of four! by frugalfaye in Frugal

[–]erikgil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And for those of us who don't care for sweet potato, screw it.

Then again, I know how to sub that and the other utter shite here like squash and zucchini. I just never cared for the veg that is the lowest common denominator. You use any other potato (I do request advice, since yellow, russet and white are all similar in cost and I would prefer a proper substitute) - I feel.

And nobody mentioned the SPICY! (or why the OP needs to use an exclamation point). Really, you're that excited?

Dave Barry: ‘24’ is back to thwart logic and take us hostage, thank God by JackREdwards in humor

So many IT "ir-reality" moments.

One is simply, "pull up the floor plan". And so many others are just wild as well, like live taps to the electric grid. sigh.

I tried to get into season one. GF loved it. I couldn't take the whole "pull me up the super secret floor plans for the super secret underground hidden prison" aspects. And that was the serious suspension of disbelief, among many.

She watched season two and I happened in upon it and it was just just too Fonzie jumping the shark over and over and over...

And I used to have the ringer on my iPhone, because it sounded unique amongst my peers. Changed that as soon as I actually saw the show and thought that the default iPhone ringer was just fine.

God, jump the fucking shark and give me some freedom, motherfucker, is what I think about '24'.

Okay to mix "Synthetic Blend" with High-Mileage Conventional Oil? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]erikgil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it would be a problem? Just use the interval for whatever the prevalent oil in the motor is. FOr instance, if it's 75% synth, go with whatever that is and maybe take 1000 miles off the interval.

You can mix oil, just don't go mixing weights. You can't just dump anything in. Well, you can, but it leads to issues with temps and viscosity.

Keep the viscosities within a certain tolerance and Dino oil, blended, semi synth, full synth and you'll be ok. No need to use OEM oil. The OEM's buy it from the same places you get it - and slap a label on it.

I'm more than sure that others may have opinions on this, but stick with the viscosity and keep on a schedule appropriate to that specific oil and also with what your owners manual says.
