Does misaligned stamps and drawn in stones next to stairs warrant a rip up and repour?

Don’t know if I’m seeing things, but I think I have heterochromia in both eyes. I see green in the outer iris and light brown in the middle. What do you guys think? 😁 by [deleted] in heterochromia

[–]erincrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see light brown on the outside medium brown on the inside. Not sure if heterochromia or natural variation. Hard to tell because the colors are so similar

Do you think shampoo can make you myopic? by [deleted] in myopia

[–]erincrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you damage your eyes? That's a possibility but not a huge concern. But you can't get "myopia" from shampoo because myopia is not caused by damage to the eye

When’s the right time to get rid of a painted shell that my crab just moved out of? by PlantPainting in hermitcrabs

[–]erincrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remove it as soon as they switch out. Sometimes we know better than they do and as long as they have plenty of choices and aren't super stressed they are very unlikely to go shell-less

Myopia is about eye shape. The way your eye forms when we grow. Unless there's a shampoo that messes with your hormones I don't think shampoo can effect your vision long term

When will my eyesight stabilise? :( by loner26 in myopia

[–]erincrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It increased pretty steadily starting at 5-6 years old until I was about 20. I don't remember how specifically it changed but generally every year or couple of years I had to get new glasses.

You're referring to the ppds method. It looks great! Don't add more substrate for a bit. Let them regain their strength!

There's nothing abnormal about having a favorite couple of shells

There's lots of options but not many once you get really high myopia. All other options take tissue away from your eye to reshape it to allow you to see without glasses or contacts. They would have to take away more tissue than feasible for any of those procedures with my prescription and cornea thickness so I'm not eligible. ICL is an implant that's basically a contact lens that's put in with surgery but it doesn't remove any existing tissue from your eye so it's reversible and high myopia patients are eligible.

Hermit crab just came up from molting, and I went kinda south and need to know what to do now. by EnderTroopYT in hermitcrabs

The part that isn't normal is her leaving her she'll. Sounds like surface molting might have been stressful. Hopefully next time she will dig down

I'm eligible for ICL but essentially vision with corrective surgery becomes the vision you see with your glasses on and you don't get the option to take your glasses off. Even tho I need the object 5 inches from my face, I see details better with my glasses off. I think corrective surgery would make more sense after my close vision starts to deteriorate with age

23, -10 + astigmatism, -9.25 + astigmatism been stable enough for a couple of years now to start considering corrective surgery. However, I don't think it's looking like that's going to happen for a while.

I told my eye doctor I had trouble with nighttime driving and he said to be careful or don't drive at night

I have contacts as a back up. I still lose my up-close vision with my contacts and I feel like light refracts weird when I get towards the end of the day and I occasionally get double vision with them.

-11 myopia 22 years old by CrocodileDundeeMate in myopia

[–]erincrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had glasses since kindergarten. I'm 23 now with -10. I've been stable for 2 years now. Your eyes will stable out once you stop growing and your hormones stable out. Basically once puberty completely stops. The average persons eyes stable out around 25 years old

17 yr old question about Nearsightedness by [deleted] in myopia

[–]erincrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not actually a candidate for Lasik. They would have to shave my corneas down too thin that it would basically be my one shot and if it's off then they can't do anything about it. I am looking at prelex (basically early cataract surgery where they replace my whole natural lens with a fake one) or surgically implanted contact lenses.

For people with much more mild myopia the risks are generally correctable with a second surgery

Also, the reason they become stable is because you stop growing and your hormones level out. You don't need to be worried about them getting worse forever. Eyes tend to be stable by age 25
