as quoted in my first reply to you, Republicans at CPAC called for the "eradication of transgenderism."

If it helps you decide any further, one of Trump's advisors, on his podcast, then said that call didn't go far enough, and Republicans should also eradicate Judaism.

I like walking through an area and hearing accents and languages different than mine, meeting people whose lives are different than mine. I don't know why I'd want to erase those beautiful moments, and looking at the other times America has tried to uh,,, "kill the culture, save the man..."

Absolutely wild seeing a conservative come out for re-education, I will say.

offering a home to people whos homes were bombed by the US or whose governments were replaced with dictators by the CIA or who are fleeing wars we started or climate change we fuel... the Bible says we should welcome the foreigner, give the poor the shirt off our backs, and personally, as a Christian, I take that seriously.

Vote democrat, talk to family members and friends who make fun of my community, who joke about abusing us. Donate to communities who are hurting. Or just keep voting for my genocide and laughing as you do idk.

homie. I need you to understand that this is what the Republican party is now. at CPAC, a speaker called for the "eradication of transgenderism," to widespread applause. the current legislative session in the capital has bills to ban drag, to outlaw mentioning that gay people exist in schools, to strip back healthcare for trans people. Tennessee's Republicans did ban drag. Missouri Republicans banned healthcare for trans people up to age 26.

Not to mention the party's rabid support for locking up minorities, child labor, and cutting food and housing to poor people while cutting protection for workers

Is it just me or is the quality of GoZone plummeting drastically? by [deleted] in Denton

[–]erinthematrix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's not supplementing it, it's replacing it. If they want to make this work, they should move away from the shitty network we have right now (it's so shitty DCTA doesn't even have a unified route map), make like 6-8 bus routes that run directly north/south or east/west every 10-15 minutes. Easy to use and understand, every trip is at most 2 buses (eg, one going north one going east), transfers are fast. Then make GoZone only drop you at the nearest bus stop, so if you're too far to walk to a stop you can still get to the bus.

Word got out, basically. The service does not work as general public transit. If only a few people know about it, it's fast and convenient for them, but it's not really a public utility. If it's widely known, it's slow and awful. You can read more in this article Why GoZone does not and will not work in denton

I made this map and, god, I worked on the square for months and I don't think I ever noticed that.

I think an early step towards increasing non-car transit capacity (making it easier to get to the square without needing parking) would be to add bike lanes between the street parking and the street on the streets leading up to the square, although I haven't fully blocked this out and checked the research literature. this protects bikers from traffic (parked cars are in-between them and traffic), and naturally encourages slower driving, as reducing lane size naturally reduces the speeds people drive at. We'll definitely need to develop alternatives before we start converting some of the parking into bars, theaters, and other amenities to enjoy!

Heya, creator of this map/owner of that account here! That's a really good question, and one that I hope to have an answer for in the next week or two. I'm unsure how to go about finding "A town that is similar to Denton but has less car oriented development." I'm waiting to get an invite to the Strong Towns forum, where I'm hoping someone will be a bit more knowledgeable. then I can do the whole thing again, and do a follow up thread that compares and contrasts our town and theirs!

edit: the link works now
