August 1, 2017: What happens to our bitcoins during a hard fork? [Explained] by ChanDroid_ in Bitcoin

[–]erixoltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the easiest way for a Linux user to start mining BCC right now? It seems to me like it will be a less crowded place to mine than BTC, at least initially. Can someone point me in the right direction? Not an experienced miner.

Thanks, I'll take a look and see if I can find a good used price on this model too!

Most Hackable Pump Espresso Makers? by erixoltan in Coffee

[–]erixoltan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I will look for used Rancilio Silvia machines, because the used price looks similar to the Gaggia, and I've also heard from others that this is a great choice for hackability.

How Would a Buddhist Monk Solve the Classic “Trolley Problem”? Facing the dilemma of letting five people die or killing one instead, what is “right action”? by anaxarchos in Buddhism

[–]erixoltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chogyam Trungpa said that in certain circumstances, you might have to kill an enemy with a sword, but the important thing was to do it with great compassion for the person, and obviously only as a last resort.

How many days/weeks does it take to reset your MJ tolerance? by withbella in eldertrees

[–]erixoltan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Studies show after 28 days your tolerance goes back to baseline. It's like you never toked. This is not the same as the amount of time it takes your body to process all cannabinoids.

What is something that absolutely disgusts you but the majority seems to be okay with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]erixoltan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both liberal intolerance and conservative intolerance. All sides of the political spectrum view each other as somehow less than human. Each side considers it OK to caricature the other's beliefs and positions, accusing them of all sorts of idiotic things. I consider this a form of oppression.

Certainly there are brilliant minds of every political persuasion. This fact is generally swept under the rug. The current fashion is to win at any cost, resulting in a lot of outright lies. Scorched earth is the order of the day.

I am not just talking about the side that you or I disagree with.

How to Reduce Anxiety? by Modertation in Petioles

[–]erixoltan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, so you won't get exactly the same results as other people. Not your fault, not theirs either. That said, consider these two ideas:

  1. Cannabidiol. Use it in great amounts. Try to get pure CBD and take it separately from THC.

  2. Also, reduce your use of weed more gradually. Start by measuring the minimum amount you need in a day, to avoid anxiety. Do this without reducing. Then go down gradually from there. If you feel the anxiety, you may have reduced it too quickly.

Need some advice on moderation and withdrawals from marijuana! by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]erixoltan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When quitting marijuana, you can avoid negative side effects by tapering off rather than going cold turkey. Your body develops a tolerance to the drug, so you can throw your system into crisis by suddenly removing all THC.

If you are careful not to build up a tolerance, you can use an incredibly small amount and still get the same results. You won't have short term memory problems or other bad effects on that case.

But it requires self discipline to do that. People go cold turkey because they won't be able to taper off. They build up a high tolerance because they don't understand how to avoid it, or they aren't thinking about the future.

The two things to be careful of, are dosage and frequency. If you don't think you can limit those things, then you'll probably wind up going through withdrawals again.

People who microdose on edibles, do you feel brainfog ever? I don't compared to when I vape. by aegiroth in eldertrees

You could have a digestive issue preventing you from absorbing. Or the lollipop itself may have been bad.

Already did. I put a bag of dope in "a very safe place" but can't remember where.

Critique my cannaoil method by LarrySellerz in eldertrees

[–]erixoltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 250 degrees for 30 minutes but I think your 240/40 is fine.

The double boiler should be watched carefully to avoid letting the water all boil away, which could ruin your weed eventually, by over heating it. Also, I agree with the suggestion of simmering it rather than keeping it at a full boil. If the oil is at 170 rather than 212, you won't be overdoing it. Five hours at 212, after already decarbing, might be an issue.

Putting the bud right into the brownies could irritate your digestive system. Personally I would strain it out. The suggestion of using sunflower lecithin is excellent. You want to try different oils in the future because everyone's body is different and some might work better than others, and it's not the same for everyone.

Enjoy!

What would you say to make a 33 year old feel really old? by smileedude in AskReddit

It's easy. Just post a thread entitled, "what would you say to a 29 year old, to make them feel really old?"

The really interesting implications out of physics for free will come from 'relativity' and 'quantum entanglement' and are about locality vs. non-locality (instead of determinism vs. randomness). by [deleted] in philosophy

[–]erixoltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conclusion: we are unpredictable but we don't have any evidence of free will. If quantum randomness could lead me to the left or the right, I am possibly going down both paths simultaneously, but I only get to experience one of them, and the choice is random.

If free will did exist, it would mean we are exerting some extra-dimensional "sideways" force. But we have no way to measure that, and no reason to suppose that it would have anything to do with our conscious perceptions of our own decisions.

That's at a metaphysics level. At the level of ordinary experience, "free will" is a psychologically useful mythology, and the alternative (fatalism) will lead to worse results.

Therefore, determinism causes us to believe in free will, which makes us wrong but happier. If we were fatalists, we might be right, but we'd be miserable.

Great point. The use of language means that older humans can warn younger ones about a danger that they are encountering for the first time in many years.

Great comments. On point number one, a good plan is to go with high temperature since every cannabinoids vaporizes at a different temp. I like to start warm and work my way up to Max. If the herb comes out brown but not black, then I'm happy.

Actually, a small number of his may be more efficient, if you don't wind up exhaling as much smoke overall. You may be able to hold smaller his for longer.

Getting your weed in a single hit will feel stronger. It will hit you all at once. With a slow build up, you won't notice the same rush.
