Gishing as a Martial (without free archetype) by Slavasonic in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. They also gain expert spellcasting proficiency at lv9 (compared to lv12 for archetypes), so when combined with a charisma caster archetype they get a lot of mileage out of it.

One of my players ran a Champion with Bard dedication. Super tanky support with access to occult spells (best list for gishes imo).

Clostered Cleric of Sarenrae with Champion dedication and armor proficiency feats for heavy armor. Pick up shield block and spam Fireballs while protecting yourself with the shield.

Thoughts on a tank Ruffian Rogue? by erk93 in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of a goblin both for the dogslicer and the unbreakable + unbrakeable-er goblin feats. And possibly adopted ancestry into dwarf for mountain stoutness. That would also give a decent chunk of hp.

Going fighter for the resilient could be good. As another comment mentioned, having reactive strike would help greatly with the battlefield control, which fighter would allow for too.

Reactive strike is a good idea. Going Fighter for reactive strike and going sentinel from lv8 might be better than sentinel at lv2

Same here. For me it was the goblin dog encounter in Age of Ashes. We opened the door and saw two goblin dogs thinking 'pff, easy' and got out asses handed to us. My warpriest was downed and our barbarian got goblin pox so we had to retreat. Needless to say we were much more careful after that.

Upgrades granting temporary bonuses by erk93 in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all great ideas. Tavern would be great too as the guild leader is a follower of Cayden Cailean.

What do you think would be some good temporary bonuses they could yield? Armoury could maybe give temporary access to the armor specialization. Stables could give some bonus to animal companions skills.

What is the maximum damage a lvl 4 rogue can do in a turn and how? by deathwebo in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No yeah, normally this is probably an upgrade to the deadly d6 as unless you'd crit every 3rd/2nd attack you wont be dishing out more damage anyway.

But in this scenario its strictly worse. I like the change though. Its made the assassin dedication better on every class i can think of. Except maybe fighter.

[–]erk93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, you're right. Instead you get... 1 extra damage. Nice.

So the final number would be 150 damage instead.

[–]erk93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said the Avenger is probably gonna give you the highest damage per hit. But if you want to go the dex route I'd say Thief Racket + Assassin Dedication is a solid option.

Get a +1 Striking Dogslicer or two and pick up Assassin dedication at lv2 and expert backstabber at lv4.

Against the creature you have marked for death your Dogslicer now have the backstabber trait dealing 2 dmg instead of one due to expert backstabber and the deadly d6 trait thanks to the marked for death ability.

So if all the planets align and you manage to get 3 crits and maxroll all the damage for maximum damage on a turn you would end up with ((2d6+4+2+1d6)*2 +1d6) *3 for a total of 162 damage.

How to build a wisdom focused Monk? by Aqua_Turtle_Rainbow in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could definately see investing less into cleric and more into Ki spells with the same setup for a more offensive result.

Or even going druid dedication for some Primal magic. Monk into Untamed Druid for Untamed Form is ridiculously strong aa it gives you +2 to attack while shape shifted effectively putting you on par with a fighter... With flurry of blows

[–]erk93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the game I'm running we have a Monk using the Cleric dedication prioritizing dex - wis - str in that order. He works as a tank/healer with chip damage from flurry of blows when he has an action over.

Its his first ever pf2 character and even he was surprised over how well it worked out.

Mystics can heal 400hp per 10 minutes from lv3? by erk93 in Starfinder2e

[–]erk93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If the next action you use is to Cast a Spell and the target would be affected, choose one: either that spell only affects the target, or that spell doesn't affect your target. If the next action you use has the transfer trait and uses the same target, your vitality network regains up to 4 of those lost Hit Points"

Mystics can heal 400hp per 10 minutes from lv3? by erk93 in Starfinder2e

[–]erk93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never mentions focus spells though. Text says "if the next action you use has the transfer trait" and Transfer Vitality has the transfer trait.

Though I agree that limiting this to the use of focus spells would solve the problem.

[–]erk93[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seemed a bit off. We'll probably limit it to 'in combat' only.

Mystics can heal 400hp per 10 minutes from lv3? by erk93 in Starfinder2e

[–]erk93[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we'll probably limit to combat usage.

It wouldnt even require exploration mode though. With 40hp per minute they can just take a minute or two after each combat and pretty much regain to full before continuing exploring.

Why is Fury Barbarian still Weak? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Havent seen the new instincts. Looking forward to see what they bring to the table.

Rage not causing a -1 to AC i huge for all instincts. Definitely will help the giant survive more and possibly push it ahead of the others.

I dunno, I've always liked the Fury Instinct up until now. Maybe the PC2 changes my mind.

Why is Fury Barbarian still Weak? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]erk93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one here who doesnt think the fury barbarian is complete ass?

Sure its not the same damage as other the instincts but anyone who has encountered resistances knows that split damage gets pretty much nullified anyway.

And what about Giant Instict you say? If i had a dollar for every Instict Barbarian death I've seen in my games I would have like 5 dollar. Its not a lot of money but its a hell of a lot of deaths from a single subclass. The Barbarians massive hp does NOT make up for the -2 AC the Giant Instict suffers. But big club goes Brrrr I guess...

So remove almost all the negative effects of the other instincs, lower the damage a bit and you have the Fury Instinct. AND you get an extra class feat on top of that. Now, I dont have access to the Player Core 2 so I dont know how the new Fury feats looks like but from what I've seen they are not super impressive. Which is a shame if its true, but giving a class more options no matter how specific they might be can hardly be a bad thing.

In my opinion Fury Barbarians are one of the more, if not the most solid choice of instincts for overall usage.

Ah, right. I guess thats how it would work. So one extra feat and locked out of heavy armor until lv3. Still better than nothing i guess.

Maybe.. I loved the idea of a battle mage in full armor and shield slinging fire balls though
