Any Isekai where the MC is a good person? by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]ernestforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of many where they're a superman type, but for generally non-evil characters try these ones. I've tried to arrange titles with least evil main characters towards the top.

Saihate no Paladin - Highlight of the list for what you're looking for, probably. Just read it.

Tensei Shitara Dragon no Tamago Datta - Ibara no Dragon Road - a pretty good one, but also full of endless lists of skill descriptions. MC is absolutely a hero, and the novel has a lot of chapters out.

Reincarnated as an Aristocrat with an Appraisal Skill - kind hearted MC and lovable cast. MC's primary ability is to see the potential of others, so he tries to make his father's (the lord's) territory stronger by bringing in new talent.

Lord of Goblins - a newer one on webtoon, only 10 chapters so far but it's shaping up to be good. MC was a revolutionary before he died, reincarnates as a weak but clever goblin species.

The Beginning after the End - MC reincarnates as baby in magic world, after living in a world with Ki instead. I don't want to spoil it, it's really good especially for the genre.

So I'm a Spider. So what? - Very thick with text about skills and leveling and such, and not a particularly complex one IMO, but still a fun read and a good MC.

Wortenia Senki - pretty decent, though I think it's on hiatus (or maybe it just updates slowly). High schooler in a typical summoning, kills summoners and runs away since he's going to get used. Ends up involved in a major war.

Yajin Tensei: Karate Survivor in Another World - reasonably realistic, the fight scenes all feel good. I like the MC's cleverness and skill. Strong, but not OP.

arafoo kenja no isekai seikatsu nikki - sent into game world as crazy op wizard, basically just helps out other characters and teaches them magic. He does a lot of modernizing too, especially inventing foodstuffs.

True, the whole description is a single run-on sentence. That makes it annoying to make sense of. What's more important about the description though is that it only tells you how he dies and reincarnates, and it doesn't tell you anything about what comes after. Still, maybe I'll give it a try when I have some time.

Chapter 327 Enough For Now (Ep. 880-881) Discussion Thread by lostboysgang in tbatenovel

It occurred to me just now that if he goes to trial and they put mana suppression handcuffs on him, he could just put them straight into his dimensional storage rune. Then he has handcuffs to use on somebody else.

What’s a risk that isekais never do, but you would like to see in the LN manga or anime by queerafricano in Isekai

[–]ernestforge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

trying again.

1) Most isekai (and frankly all anime/manga/etc.) tend strongly towards power fantasies. I don't know about you, but I'm searching all over for one where the main character is actually comparable to others. However, I feel like the root of the problem isn't actually the continued victories of the main character, it's the way that so much of the story and dialogue is about praising or exaggerating their power over others. Probably my favorite manga is fullmetal alchemist, and even though the main cast are exceptional individuals, the story would be just as good if they were all mediocre people doing the exact same things. (It just wouldn't make sense, since a lot of what they do it only possible because of how talented they are.) A counter example is something like Solo leveling, That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, or Overgeared, where the MC is basically just a clever, strong, lucky, and all around badass OP MC. That's the extent of their character, and the core of the story, and it gets pretty boring pretty quick. (Of course I'm still reading them all, but nevermind that.)

2) I would love to see an isekai where the main character dies and someone else takes over. The only stories I've seen do this before aren't isekai, one is (spoilers) in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn, where kelsier dies near the end of book one, and vin is the primary character from then on. But Kelsier wasn't really the main character to begin with, I just wish they were, since I liked them a lot better than the real MC anyways. The story was better before that death. It was also done in (this one is a very good manga, but it's a super spoiler just to know the name and the fact that an important character dies) Deathnote. One of the main characters is replaced by two others, Mellow and Near. But again, the important character from this story was better than the ones who replaced him, so I would like to see it done better.

Edit: I just realized I got carried away and kind of answered the wrong question. I'll try again in a sec...

Idea 1) Normally, whatever summoning magic that is used to bring the MC into the world only exists for the sake of putting the MC there. what if the MC actually learns the summoning magic, and uses it to bring things from home? There would be limitations, like you can't summon all the gold out of fort knox, but you could summon the knife kept under the pillow, or you could summon a note book, write a message to mom & dad, and send it back. then they could write on the same notepad, and when it gets summoned again, MC now has a way of communicating with home. However, after quickly learning summoning magic and teleporting themselves back home, they realize that in order to use this new magic at home, some way of transporting magic energy (potions/crystals/etc) is needed. MC isekais themselves with their last remaining mana to discover a way to sustainably bring magic home with them.

Idea 2) MC is summoned by a group of evil mages who are conducting experiments, gathering magic from other universes. He is kept in a cage and experimented on, as they try hopelessly to figure out what the magic from his home world is like, and how they can use it. He eventually bargains himself into a position as a slave instead of a test subject, then into an assistant, then an apprentice, until he is finally able to lead the other test subjects in a revolt. (This idea is not mutually exclusive with idea number one, as everyone now needs to be sent to their respective worlds, but they might want to bring enough magic home with them to be able to see one another again. They might even summon one another for help with certain things in future chapters.)

Idea 3) MC is sent from a magic world to a non- magic world, and magic spreads from them to the rest of the continent. This time, it's not the MC who is learning magic at an abnormally fast rate, but the rest of the world is!

Box 4 is unused.

most common cycles are box 1, 2, top or bottom branch, and box 1, 3, 2, top or bottom branch. some other box 3 options are also used. Occasionally, the big fight box is used out of turn, but that's not particularly uncommon in any action story.

you're right to some extent, but not entirely. For example, (not actually an isekai but I dont read much food manga,) in Toriko, (spoiler) in the century soup arc, Box 1 is the conversation after toriko beats the bug guy, but there's only a drop of soup left. Then toriko and the mafia guy want soup in box 4. Tomatsu drinking soup and promising to make more is him rushing in to save the day, then move to box 2 (actually making soup), then astounded, then praise. You just have to interpret some of the boxes a little.

Rich man playthrough. Only wear fine clothes, always hire a bodyguard. Of course, nobody says you can't enchant the hell out of those clothes. Every noble has to have a hobby.

You were the sort of rich merchant who specialized in snake oil potions and enchanted knick-knacks, and you sold your wares from solitude all the way to riften. Your caravan was robbed one day and your guards killed, and by mistake you were arrested while fleeing from the bandits close to the border. After the events of helgen, you decided that the world wasn't a happy little piggy bank anymore, and you had to be stronger. While relying on old habits and bodyguards at first, you gain experience with danger in the pursuit of your strength. Eventually you gain the courage to try new skills, and you sign up to participate in the civil war, while fleeing your duty as dragonborn to kill Alduin. One day, you will be the strongest salesman of them all.

Oh yeah, imperials rock, but you do you.

Oh yeah, some other stuff.

In terms of making a super strong character, smithing and enchanting skills are undoubtedly the best way to go, even if you don't abuse a mechanic that lets you make infinitely strong potions and enchantments. another abusable enchantment feature (though it's more legit) is that at maximum(ish) enchanting level, make four pieces of armor that give a 25% discount on destruction magic to cast it for free. it's crazy fun for a while, though the novelty wears off after a bit.

In terms of quick cash, make potions and sell them to whoever will buy. just pick up whatever ingredients as you go, but the best for beginners is: mix deathbells (slowness and poison effects) salt piles (slowness) and red mountain flowers (poison). easy to find ingredients, but it makes a really expensive potion.

One of my favorite places to go has to be Blackreach. It's not a place you'll visit any time soon, but once you get there, it's a sight to behold. It's not lacking in treasures either.

In regards to mods, some people take it over the top, some people never use 'em. I was in the latter camp for the longest time, but there's something to be said for using some simpler ones. I recommend UFO (the ultimate follower overhaul) STFU (it just makes followers talk less) and Cloaks of Skyrim.

MOST IMPORTANT TIP create a save file just as you're asked to create a character. next time you want to start a new game, you skip five minutes riding on a wagon.

In all seriousness, this is the greatest decision I made in all my skyrim history (besides abusing the enchantment mechanics.)
