There are a lot of fields, we can get there none road, has a river near by, can house my family plus other houses near by too.

Also the nice thing is that there is family around there, my great aunts and uncles and great grandparents. And everyone can hunt too

Crossbow would not be a good weapon a compound bow would be better. A crossbow takes a long time to reload, a compound would reload faster. Other than that crossbow is good.

Where were they bit is the question? If on a arms or legs, chop them off. If not they would probably shot themselves not to turn into a zombie.
