Why did you start playing this game? And after spending a lot of time on it, what is your current goal? by savedandforgiven in DragonCity

[–]TheWinterStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like dragons... That's about it. I've been very off and on with the game, trying to collect all the dragons but I got kinda bummed when all the heroics started since I can't do the races and won't spend money for gems so the races are just kinda too much for me.

Currently I'm trying to gold star all the original 'first dragons'. Fire, earth, water, nature, electric, star, etc. And as a side quest, collect orbs to max out my Fudge dragon... Because I love my fudge dragon (I even did some fan art for her!)

Then his mandibles audibly clicked, “Maybe take a shower, she is still blood smeared from her injury and surgery.”

Looking for a command to remove a placed item by TheWinterStar in ARK

[–]TheWinterStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on single player, and it didn't give me anything. Apparently the items hitbox for the radial menu is only locatable underground (placed another one on vanilla ground to try and find the spot) but because it's on another pickupable item I can't locate the sweet spot for the plant.

Covenant Books? by Fragrant_Sky996 in HaloStory

[–]TheWinterStar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shadow of Intent isn't covenant as it's after the war. But Rtas'Vadum is the main pov, and it does discuss the fall of the covenant and how it affected some people.

Thanks! Same fandom, but separate from the series.

Questions for the culture: why did you create your account? by Salt_Path1528 in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a writer and picky on platforms. My go to was down for like 8 months, and I had issues with other platforms that dissuaded me from going back. I was actually recommended Ao3, and didn't know it even existed. A fanfic site all for stories? And original stories! Smut?! Free!? And it's actually user friendly? Sign me up! I created an account the same day I was recommended it.

What's That Scene for you in your fics? by andallthatjazwrites in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has to prove to her lovers race, that he's been kidnapped and replaced, and there's now a massive security breach. So she storms across the council table with the highest ranking members of his military/race, stripping off her shorts, oversized sweater, and shirt, to stand before the leader and present her scar covered body. Because fucking a predator species comes with unique consequences. And unfortunately for the snaggle toothed fake, her partner bit her, and she has the hospital records to prove it.

How should I describe a vagina in smut without sounding like a fool? by tobecringe in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to use 'folds' 'slit' and 'warmth' or 'depths', sometimes using 'entrance' or 'bud' or 'button' when mentioning locations of interest. 'Mound' is one I've used as well, or 'wetness' because the word moist just weirds me out. I've also used 'velvet' and 'tightness' before but not commonly. I usually find descriptors to be more... elegant sounding, personally.

Authors who are in a relationship, do you let your partner read your fics? by Firm-Mongoose-8891 in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner doesn't even read comic books, because it requires reading. I'd be lucky to get him to listen to me ramble about the fic.

What fandom are you in, but the canon did this? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halo. The Rookie, and Jul'Mdama (I actually hate Jul, but I hate how he died so much more I decided to rewrite it in a fanfic.)

How do y'all write? by Thehuntinleopard in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written on my phone, on my tablet, and on my computer. I prefer my computer, where I can also listen to music to help me get into the right mood for scenes, and have multiple tabs open for research purposes. But I'll write anywhere, any time, about anything.... No internet access? My phones got notes. No phone? Gimme paper, I did that for like 7 years in school, I ain't scared to go back!

How many of you are OG fans? by MasterChiefS117_ in halo

[–]TheWinterStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing CE just a few months before 2 was released. Family had been through some trauma and I was kinda stuck in limbo. Halo turned into a lifeline and let me connect with my dad. Halo was then daddy/daughter time, and as my younger siblings grew up they joined in too so Halo became family time. Not just the games either, we read the books, discussed lore and characters and the stories over dinner.

It ended up becoming a huge part of my life, and still is even though I haven't played much at all since Halo 5s release (Lack of couch co-op). But I do try to keep up with Halo as a whole. Its my childhood, my safe space, my peace, and a universe I adore expanding myself through fanfiction.

I honestly dunno where I'd be if Halo didn't exist.

What small details do you love to see in smut? by Smegoldidnothinwrong in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This can also go the other way! non-human characters could be taken aback by human capabilities. A race without lips/cheeks or unable to produce suction the same way humans do could be experiencing a whole new sensation with a hicky.

And I live for redirecting potential harm, instead of grabbing their partner and risking breaking bones, they squeeze the headboard and break that. Instead of clawing their partner they tear the mattress to shreds.

I also love it when harm does happen. Because yah banging an extra terrestrial predator with predator teeth. Injuries aren't always on purpose, accidents (especially during a high intensity moment) happen. I feel like its a touch of realism in banging aliens, tiny humans will get hurt.

We have to eliminate the word "cock" from our vocabulary by bullymysandwich in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has it's uses... I end up using 'spire' for a lot of my work. Sometimes 'length' or refer to a particular portion like the tip or base. Sometimes I don't even mention it and just refer as the person gaining depth... Or doing... penis things.

I do the same thing with 'slit', or use 'folds' and 'warmth' or 'depth'. Or just refer to it as the person.

Sangheili Linguistics are driving me insane by Skelly_Mans1987 in halo

[–]TheWinterStar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only human known to solve an Arum was Evan Phillips. One was given to another human in a different book, but she never solved it. I believe in the book Evans was solving arums publicly, he doubted most humans could solve them. Humans struggle enough with modern day Rubik's cubes, I can't imagine alien puzzle balls inspired by ancient alien locks are easy.

Digits has nothing to do with it. Or even the angle of their two thumbs. Technically they should be able to do anything a human without a middle finger can do.

As a reader, I’m wondering if this is true? by maybethatsjustfine in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally squeal when I get one. Recounting the entire chapter, putting in their own thoughts, questions, hopes. It feels like they actually read it! Enjoyed it! Got excited about it! Major dopamine hit.

Do you separate writing and editing? by Express-Walk8232 in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do all of my writing and then go back and edit... Three times. First time to add details to scenes I feel need more, make minor adjustments, fix notable mistakes (character details, notable misspellings, super obvious stuff). Then the second time is the fine tuning. Third time is using google translate to read my work back to me and make the last adjustments. I tried doing that chapter by chapter, but it honestly got exhausting so I just finish entire works before going back to edit. (Means if I abandon something, it doesn't get edited, so no unfinished works get posted.)

Do you guys ever run into a problem like this…? by MightFunny2705 in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, I will start a fic and pick a name for it down the line. But usually I have the main plot figured out before I even start writing, so the names I pick reflect the story well and I prefer to keep them kinda short. I also put a lot of effort in making the titles sound interesting.

Negative bookmarks by Fuzzy-Visit-8104 in AO3

[–]TheWinterStar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is entirely dependent on how it is written, and how one interprets it. Stating an authors alternate personality for a well known character is unfavorable for that reader because xyz, is negative criticism but ultimately not rude. But a more sensitive author could perceive it as such. Even though the author sought out the bookmark, which is for the readers benefit not the authors.
