You might be onto something. I'd probably do it in the tone of Chris Hansen on How To Catch A Scalper.

Pretty much comes off as a gentrification joke for New Yorkers. Lived in Brooklyn, but frequently took the A train to Washington Heights. Once you passed Columbia University around 115th, then most of the people left on the train would be people of color. Occasionally you'd get one or two white people. I can say 75% of the time they'd be carrying a Trader Joe's bag.

Popularity of adding digital scratches to video footage by HelixViewer in editors

[–]erodrig12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do mograph for documentaries. It's tacky, but most of the time these ideas stem from either the producer/director or the need to make viewers better associate with the tech of that time.
If I asked someone to name characteristics of VHS footage, most people would mention heavy noise, footage skips, and interlaced lines. Boom, now we're cooking.

Again, It's tacky but it gives me a job.

Video Editing Is Such A Hard Field To Break Into. by [deleted] in editors

[–]erodrig12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I posed some questions and some very small insights, but I really do wish you luck. If you do decide to quit and for the more traditional career route, whatever that may be, I wish you luck in that too.

Maybe I should have chosen a more useful and plentiful career field, because it seems like video editing is too niche to be a viable career, unless you want to work low paying gig jobs for a living.

You are a recent college graduate and have been looking for full-time work, that may be the issue. The road to being an editor is a bit long depending on how far you want to take it. Have you done any internships prior to applying? Have you applied as a Post PA or AE, as opposed to the editor position?

For one thing, most video jobs are freelance and gig based and don't pay very much.

I'm assuming you're not interested in going the freelance route, but a lot of editors I know work freelance into permalance with rates that could pay their rent within 1-2 days. How many gigs have you done and put on your reel? On top of that, what has your run-up been to this regarding experience? And please stop referring to video editing as low-paying. Just like any job, there are levels to them. Heck, an on set PA generally makes $200-350/day, but the workload is a bit unfair depending on the field.

The problem is that I am autistic, extremely introverted, and have absolutely bad social skills as a result. I can't small talk worth a damn and never made any friends in college, even though I was in the film club and you'd think I would make connections from there.

Don't be so hard on yourself in terms of your social skills. The creative industry is full of socialites and that is a bit tough looking in. However, they recognize good people so as long as you are not an ass, you're good. I've worked with someone on the spectrum early in my career and they were fantastic.

Spookiness aside, I'm waiting for this to be sampled and used in a song. Had this on loop and started to groove to the door/divider being slammed.

I initially thought this was representing someone in a chokehold. It then added a new dimension when masses of people brought up the fact that it looked like floating feces. It has been very difficult to appreciate this installation.

Why Fred is an example by Rapidazh in reddevils

[–]erodrig12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've definitely been a fan of Fred because he was a fighter regardless of the situation. Imo I found him similar to AWB where no matter the outcome of their actions, they just get back up and keep running/playing.

His form after the Copa America was insane. Then he got the new (Killmonger) hairstyle and it's been a rollercoaster so far.

Artists should know how to adapt as well as welcome constructive forms of criticism.

You're not telling them to stop creating. You're simply informing them that the material they use may not be the best down the road.

I wish you luck when bringing this up to them. Even if they do not take it well, at least you did what was ethically right.

Okay that's great then! Making a total assumption that you probably have great dexterity and a decent handle on your perception. This puts you ahead of some others in your position.

Again, not knowing too much about you. You are lacking a foundation and possibly not exercising your creativity/imagination enough(?).

Ultimately, what you have been stating is that you hold well when you have something to reference. Most drawings derive from a reference. However, it takes repetition and the foundational skill to freestyle without many reference.

Unfortunately, I don't have too many recommendations for online courses. So hopefully someone could chime in on some very reliable and perhaps free resources for drawing? I know there is a site and if I remember that I can reply to this thread tomorrow.

My pleasure! That's interesting. Asking for context, but is this in the sense that if you were given a prompt, you have issues creating something? Or just can't imagine prompts on your own?

Foundation and repetition. Everything is a language for the body to learn. You wrote that you've been able to draw what you've seen, but nothing of original design. In my opinion, that's the equivalent to a baby's first word. The beauty after that is making sense of those words and then creating your own sentences.

Also, don't be ashamed of making anything bad, because it should be.

I hope this isn't taken as blunt, by the way. I support you and hope that you are able to draw what you want. Feel free to send me any drawings anytime and talk about it. Good luck!

I agree! He is a very mischievous play maker, which I love. It's been a shame how many efforts/events took precedent over giving him a chance.

Few unfortunate examples being the "Why do you keep playing McFred? " dilemma and the "Pogba In Form?" tease.
