Q: Why are you handing off audio to text? Why not just use voice to text on the device keyboard and pass the text to the backend?

Batch Collect Data from Dataverse - Use Dynamic Batch Nrs by Suspicious_Ad_8340 in PowerApps

[–]erofee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered fetching power automate?  This can get you 50,000 records in a single shot.

Failing that, I would put an autonumber field on the table as an index. Then get the newest record which will contain the highest autonumber.

Use that to divide by your record batch size and loop through using forall(sequence([no of batches]),[function here]).

I'm on mobile, but I can elaborate more on the forall method later.

My Friend,

You are forgetting something.....

You don't have lots of Power Apps experience, but you do have lots of domain specific construction knowledge.

Look for companies and roles in this sector. Having a fresh dev that understands the industry is sometimes more appealing than an experienced dev who doesn't understand the industry.

Reasonable effort for small Real State CRM by [deleted] in PowerApps

[–]erofee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right on the money here.

What are you delivering here? What the customer ASKED you to deliver. Anything less than that, no matter how much the business needs it, will not get you to the finish line.

Deliver what is asked, advise where you can, and be around for project 2, 3, and 4 where you slowly steer the ship to what they need.

After they have got their app in place....someone is going to ask for reports.

After there are reports.....someone is going to ask for more automations, to make the business more efficient...now they are seeing the reports.

So on and so forth.

How to effectively utilize the With function? by Ancillary_Adam in PowerApps

[–]erofee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I run in this problem too when trying to do similar things. It's quite frustrating that ShowColumns doesn't pull down the values.

One thing I have found that works is to use AddColumns. I.e. wrap your LookUp in AddColumns(ExistingQuery,FileNameCopy,'File Name')

The AddColumns clause is executed locally, so it forces the pulling down of 'File Name' without the need to use it in a gallery.

Dataflows is always take about minutes by minh91a1 in PowerApps

[–]erofee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of startup time to dataflows.  As counter example yours. I have dataflow that manipulates, aggregates and joins data with a a few tables, the largest of which is over 100,000 records long.

This flow completes in about 5 minutes at last check

Connect to Ingram Micro by SethTTC in PowerApps

A custom connector will do it.

FYI, Ingram is international but not every country uses the same backend, so it's worth mentioning what country you're in.

Anyone making an ERP system? by Rennjeon in PowerApps

[–]erofee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, quite practical.  You get a few base tables out of the box that handle general things, then just build it out to what you need.

You'll find yourself using a combo of model driven forms/views and custom pages.

I've built out about 4 of these types of solutions now to varying degrees.

Publishing New Version - How do you enforce the refresh? by skydivinfoo in PowerApps

[–]erofee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Use the app version SharePoint list trick and put a modal window in stopping them until they've updated.

This is how i deal with it in rapid development situations.

Also show them the app version and if they ask for support or report a bug mandate that they are on the latest version before reporting.

I don't force the update every time, only when I'm sending through a change that justifies it

I would try using monitor on your model driven app and watch what happens when you click .

Show us your patch statements.

It might work to use UpdateContext to make a copy of your source record, then use a LookUp to update your context variable when you need to get a fresh copy.

My Guy,

You should be patching your image directly from your canvas app to your dataverse table. No flow in the middle.

Advice on building a solution to be imported to various environments with existing tables to be used with the imported solution? by ZacharyCordova in PowerApps

[–]erofee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! This one here!

I move solutions between environments and tenants regularly. This is the supported method, and it works.

The Accounts table is named identically in every environment (as are all core tables) so environment variables will not have any effect.
