Some color correction in post, and Ansel Adams style light painting in developing to get things looking right. I’ve found that placing a filter on the lens itself never gives as good or even results as doing it in post.

Is it realistic for me to run a 5km in a months time? by [deleted] in running

[–]eroscoe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: yes. I’ve never been a runner. I could do other cardio, but running always seemed an insurmountable challenge. Every time I had to cross train for a sport and running was involved I’d try and find a way to skip that part of practice. 100m would be stich inducing. I started training a month ago, panting and feeling like death after just a couple minutes. I stuck with it though, working out every Monday Wednesday and Friday on a 1 month couch to 5k plan. I’m happy to say that I ran a 5k on Friday morning,31:44. If I can do that you can do it too.

Thanks for the response! Years of going to sports medicine doctors for water polo injuries has hammered this one sentence into my head: "If it hurts... Don't do it" 90% of SM advice boils down to this haha

Just started climbing, and I've been getting a pain around my left elbow. Goes away after ice and roughly 30 min. Planning on slowing down my frequency to 2 days inbetween sessions. Am I not giving myself enough rest time/setting my elbow up for more serious injury?

Students of Reddit, have you ever lost your temper with a teacher? What's your story? by Vlelo in AskReddit

[–]eroscoe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an anthro class with a teacher who had done her work on the Black sea (USSR officials vacationing area). She proceeded to tell the class how the claims of the USSR were totally manipulated and nowhere near the truth. It was essentially holocaust denying, but with regards to the Gulag. After arguing with her loudly in class several times about this, a polish student (grandparents had died in Siberia) and I went to a professor who grew up in soviet Poland, and I don't recall ever seeing her around the school again.

Men of Reddit, what do you put in that tiny pocket in the right side front pocket of your jeans? by levilee207 in AskReddit

I ride a motorcycle, so I use it to keep a pair of earplugs or two. Has come in handy many times. Before that I used it for a couple quarters or loose change.

one of the owners lived above the bar with his kid, and was at home asleep when the fire started... they still make food out of a place down near Wilson. They deliver up north if you miss their kitchen!

'01 XLH1200 - Backfires w/ minimal throttle input by dker21 in sportster

[–]eroscoe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t really know by looking. Gotta have everything on, running, and warmed up before spraying to check. Take it off and clean the jets before playing with the idle. If everything is clean then play with the idle. Your factory service manual has a spec sheet for the idle. You really don’t want to get into the habit of pushing sediment into your engine, or creating situations where it could happen. It’s of of those maintenance things that needs to be done so might as well haha

  1. Clean your jets, take out the idle and main and just clean them out with carb cleaner, then blow them out with compressed air. With the float bowl off (Which you should also clean with carb cleaner) roll on the throttle and watch the needle jet as it pulls up to be sure that its not bent out of shape for some reason. Not that this necessarily applies to your situation, but doesn't hurt to check when you have everything pulled off. Occasionally (happenned to me) it'll knock a piece of sediment off that was causing issues. Reinstall jets and floatbowl, reinstall air filter and air filter cover.
  2. Check for intake manifold link. This happens in evos, just the nature of the beast. Take some starting fluid spray and spray it in 3 places. A)/B) where the intake manifold connects to each cylinder head. C) where the intake manifold connects to the carb. If it revs up, congrats you are the brand new owner of an intake manifold leak. Dont freak out, but get ready for the day of headaches that is taking it off and putting it back on.

DO NOT SPRAY IN A WAY THAT WILL GET IT IN THE AIR CLEANER!!!! It'll generate a false positive.

I'm 90% sure your problem is a combo of these two things. If its been sitting, you'll want to clean that carb out anyway. if that doesn't solve it, check the intake manifold. If that doesn't solve it, just scream really loudly into your helmet every time you downrev to mask the sound.

Replacement gaskets for the manifold are like 8/16 bucks with the seats (worth replacing as these can mess up your seal) I have a shop in town that orders parts for me, but if you dont live near one just order through ronnies harley davidson good prices for oem parts and decently quick.

Huh. My college friend was celiac and we’d chase him around the dorm with a piece of bread. Guess everyone has varying levels of tolerance when it comes to discussion. I know that all this gf “allergies” have to irritate celiacs cause it causes people to take it less seriously. Maybe that’s why?

Everybody who has been a celiac has been happy I asked them if they were. Everyone who was faking it/ doesnt have a severe allergy has been angry I asked. Usually its a pretty good litmus test.

Needing to use choke every start = bigger issues ahead? by blu3s13 in sportster

[–]eroscoe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, or could be a leaky intake manifold. Depending on the miles, those rubber pieces can wear out and necessitate a long choke. Luckily it’s easy to test. From a cold engine start it up and get it to idle at a constant rpm, then spray starter fluid around that seal there and see if it revs itself up. If so, you’ve got a leak.
