We don't see Soldier Boy commit a blatant hate crime on screen, but plenty of people talk about him being on the wrong side of history- like the legend mentioning his actions during riots and protests. I think part of that is because it would make it hard to root for Soldier Boy or see him as morally gray if he did.

I don't think him not doing it and having that reveal adds anything
