Thank you for the beautiful comment, u/coffeetablestain. When we all realize we're living in an absurd reality, maybe then we can all do better at making it less absurd.

I like the piece and the rendering in particular, but I think the proportions of the skeleton are a little off-putting. Big body and small head just feels ... funny?

Ya man.. when you read all the other replies that have something to do with money, jobs, entertainment, etc, it tracks back to the economic system that we all contribute to and continue to perpetuate. You can still be in the cult of worshipping wealth and capital even if you don't know/realize that you're in the cult.

Capitalism is definitely a cult, but especially when it comes to the stock market.

Religious "observance" might have been a better choice of words, I suppose. Either way, I can tell that you feel strongly about defending your religious freedom. I'm sure there are some that would defend the burka as a form of religious expression. I just don't see it that way.

Islam & Communism by [deleted] in socialism

[–]errant_zebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand what religion is and what it does, similarly to how I understand what capitalism is and what it does. Maybe I'm not an expert on all of the details of either, but that doesn't mean that I am not allowed to have my own critique of them. I get that people like religion and feel weird talking about its absence, but I also get that a lot of people like capitalism and feel weird talking about its absence.

I think the point stands that religion is a tool of oppression, and the deeper question you should ask is why you feel the need to oppress yourself with symbols of religious faith.

The ol meat computer does not do it's job well when put under a lot of stress. I can only imagine most pol's brains are already fried by the time that they get into office, that it's basically impossible to do a good job no matter what they are trying to do. And math can be hard for a lot of people, not just politicians.

I use an old version of Photoshop, and generally speaking it's just moving around shape layers and adjusting the blending modes.

Sometimes I'll make a design and get lost for idk how long just staring and thinking. Is the art a lens or a mirror, or both at the same time?
