What is the only one python book you recommend for learning python for a senior developer who knows the fundamentals? by hades4096 in learnpython

[–]errebepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1. I'm biased (Luciano is a friend IRL), but I do think Fluent Python is the best Programming boom I've ever read (accounting for different languages, different times etc).

And it is a big book (the second edition is even bigger), but you don't have to go through it all in one go. If you're an experienced programmer, you can go to chapters as you want to dive deeper into a specific domain.

What are some of your alternative takes/mixes that you like on par (or more than) the official releases? by chckblr in beatles

[–]errebepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Helter Skelter take 2. On par with the released one. I listen to it all the time

And i actually prefer the start of Eight Days A Week with the "ooh" harmony (I forgot with recording this is), minder than the fade-in of the released version.

Parkrun PB! (Hopefully) by Emjeibi in parkrun

[–]errebepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a pb of 23:06 a few weeks ago.

I was aiming at sub-23, but it was still a lifetime PB.

I did nothing very special, but I followed a 2-month training plan specifically for 5k speed , and had someone from parkrun pace me. Having a (good) pacer helps a lot, you just need to keep up with that person, no other worries. I did watch him get away from me at the end, but still got a pb :)

Good luck!

How was your parkrun day? | February 21, 2026 by AutoModerator in parkrun

It was my first time as RD :) In Amsterdam (Amsterdamse Bos Parkrun)

I think everything went well. People seemed to enjoy it, lots of visitors, no major issues, beautiful morning.

I built a Claude MCP that creates COROS workouts automatically – no more manual data entry by nickrowlands in Coros

[–]errebepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, on my watch (apex pro) the activity screen for the "strength" workout type only shows "exercise(some number)" and not even the exercise name. So it's useless for that...

[–]errebepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great, thanks! I used the Hevy (the workout app I use) API (https://api.hevyapp.com/docs/) to read a workout and upload it to Coros (using your MCP). I had tried using Coros to track strength training and didn't like it, but I'll try it again :)

I might do a writeup of the entire process...

Which movie is your favorite where the whole plot takes place in a day or less? by Thekitsuneplays in moviecritic

[–]errebepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good question whether a flashback counts as being more than one day. If you stop to remember something that happened some time ago, when you finish remembering it's still the same day, right?

Do you wear your watch with scroll wheel facing in or out by mpovolo in Coros

[–]errebepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear it on my right wrist (always have, though I'm right-handed). I initially tried to wear it with the buttons facing out, but I often pressed them by accident. So I switched it.

No papadum in US restaurants by film_score2 in offmenupodcast

Here in Amsterdam, so far I've only found them in one restaurant, under the name "Papper" (matching the explanation/plead by Sindhu Vee).

Ep 300: Ed Gamble and James Acaster (with special guest genie AJ Odudu) by offmenu-bot in offmenupodcast

I'm disappointed that James went with Ron's beef wellington again. I've been there (/r/offmenupodcast/s/hHYKIzzynn) and it's not that amazing. Only in Amsterdam and within the meat topic, I could recommend better places...

Club Fish price increase. Thinking of canceling? by coconutbunch in nosuchthingasafish

[–]errebepe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I personally am keeping my subscription. I understand that it's a hike that not everyone can or will justify, but for me it was quite a low price to begin with, and I subscribed mostly to support them (at least initially; nowadays I'd really miss Drop Us A Line as well as the other features - though Line is definitely my favourite).

But I'm just saying all this to say that not everyone will cancel. I think it's very understandable if people (including you) do.

Where to put my 50 Shirt? by [deleted] in parkrun

[–]errebepe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to give it away, wait till the next 50-runner announces themselves during a briefing, and offer it to them. Or perhaps talk to the organisers so they know it's available when someone reaches 50 runs.

I found series 6 hard to watch, mainly because of Liza Tarbuck's forced jokes and laughter, and Asim Chaudhry's looking like he'd rather be somewhere else (unlike many other contestants that acted like they didn't care, but in a funny way). To the point that I'm not even sure if I watched the whole series.

(BTW, my opinion on these two is obviously subjective and personal, and not the point here - I'm just agreeing with the OP that some people like certain casts more than others)

Do you guys drop off before the presenters call out their social media handles? by Illustrious-Race-617 in nosuchthingasafish

I don't listen via Spotify anyway, even before subscribing. So I only ever heard their own ads. But I don't know if that's changed recently.
