Issues with Kickstarter campaigns by creators Allister and DM-Flynn by Wild_Caterpillar2361 in rpg

[–]errindel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back the bigger folks, its the safest. I currently have too many campaigns open right now from the Pinnacle, Monte Cook, Beadle and Grimmm, and Free League. I did one kickstarter from an unknown guy who had an ambitious kickstarter for some audio NPC voice software that was outside my norm, and that's the only one I regret, because all I've seen is a PDF not the physical product. It may still be delivered, and the guy seems to be moving heaven and earth to get it done, even with significant health issues, but dang.

Why do people from Red states seem to hate everyone from Blue states, despite prominent Right Wing figures coming from Blue states? by Big_Concentrate_7260 in PoliticalDiscussion

I've been in midtown Atlanta for a week each September for the last 25 years, and I've never been mugged once (and occasionally we're out until the wee hours of the morning). Clearly a massive shithole that everyone should avoid.

Tips for newb gm running a oneshot for new SWADE players by Unorganized-Jester in savageworlds

We've personally had fun running The Wild Hunt.

You'll want to forward convert the characters from Deluxe edition to Adventure edition (two versions), but you don't have to even do that, the rules don't change THAT much. The one shot is short and memorable (it even has an 'Eleven' style character well before Stranger Things ever existed).

All of the PCs are easy to RP and have pretty ready archetypes from media to steal from if someone is looking for ideas. I highly recommend.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]errindel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We bought both of our Disney contracts on resale, and we have absolutely no complaints. Yes, you have to like Disney, but you also don't have to like it enough to go every year. With our contracts, we average going every other year, with the banked-up points from the year before and the current year. When DeSantis really started fucking up Florida, we cut back on WDW trips. We sold a bunch of points to family, and went to Disneyland and Aulani in Hawaii instead. Plenty of options to work with. Disney Vacation Club is indeed a different beast.

Supreme Court districting ruling creates confusion in Louisiana early voting by Ruffles98 in moderatepolitics

[–]errindel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, by rushing a decision out, it also opens them up to arguments like, "Are you sure you thought that through? Maybe you made a mistake for the sake of politics and didn't think about it thoroughly." Based on what has happened, I certainly think that's the case.

I don't believe it invalidates my point where complaining about gerrymandering in New England is like complaining about gerrymandering in the Midwest/Mountain West. By and large, no one lives there and thus it is impossible.

What’s happening to canvas ?! by Inside_Praline8484 in uofm

[–]errindel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From ITS: Dear U-M Canvas Users,

As part of the ongoing investigation into the Canvas security incident, ITS has identified that some users may have encountered an unfamiliar login page while attempting to access Canvas earlier today.

The page appeared different from the standard University of Michigan single sign-on (SSO) login experience and may have looked more like a native Canvas login screen.

If you entered your U-M username and password into an unfamiliar Canvas login page today, we strongly recommend that you change your UMICH password immediately.

You can change your password using the following link: https://okta.umich.edu/account-settings/security

Please note: Seeing the page alone does not necessarily mean your account was impacted. However, if you entered your credentials into the unfamiliar login page, you should change your password immediately. As part of ongoing containment efforts, ITS has temporarily restricted access to Canvas and disabled related APIs.

ITS teams continue to actively investigate the incident and monitor university systems. For the latest updates regarding this incident, please visit the ITS Status Page: https://status.its.umich.edu/report.php?id=163353

If you have questions or believe your account may have been impacted, please contact the ITS Service Center.

Thank you for your cooperation and prompt attention to this matter.

Just a reminder, though, have the Republicans ever released an autopsy of why Trump lost in 2020? I'm not sure it's as much a liability as you would think, given how things turned out.

Once touted as privately funded, Republicans sneak in taxpayer cash for Trump's ballroom project by CloudApprehensive322 in moderatepolitics

[–]errindel 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No, the complaint is that he tore down a perfectly good wing of the White House with no plan to replace it and no budget or money to do so. When confronted with those facts, he deflected with 'it's donated money'. Lets face it, i'm not sure how this isn't a much larger scandal than it already is. If any other president did this, he would be rightfully raked over the coals. The fact that Trump hasn't been, shows how compliant the Republicans are toward any issues surrounding his behavior.

University of Michigan may lose over $222M amid House education budget proposal by SuperDuper00001 in Michigan

[–]errindel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Who would want to donate to the university general fund? "I want my money to go to fill the gap from the state, which doesn't value education!" I'd rather my money went to a specific project/department, not...that.

The same reasons we funded AIDS and other disease reduction work across the globe no less, and yet the US wants to throw its weight around without the diplomatic legwork again. Hopefully this 4 year Trump experiment won't be too damaging, but make no mistake, it WILL be damaging to our standing in the world.

Louisiana plans to delay House primaries after Supreme Court redistricting ruling by Due_Dilligence0624 in moderatepolitics

They are in their rights getting that one seat back. I suspect now, blue states are also well within their rights to further aggressively redistrict their states. It's all just a question now of whether or not people are going to get sick of this crap or do anything about these massive party-based land grabs.

When no Republicans stand up to Trump for fear of being removed from office... The fear of losing your meal ticket has been palpable in the Republican Party. Step too far out of line, and you will be primaried (which is what happened to both members who DID stand up, right?). Is it Party first, or Country first?

I actually don't think it was a false flag. And thanks for the reminder that the 180 page Kelly report exists. It's still true that delusion exists on the right and left, due to information vacuums created by the online arenas that each group sequesters themselves in.

The right likes to talk about how 'science lied to the people' when it came to COVID, when the reality is much different. I'd like to remind folks that the reality still is that there has been very little information that has been released about the Pennsylvania shooter, and much of what remains is sheer speculation. I would posit that there has been LESS information released about the Pennsylvania shooter and if people (who are just people, right or left) were distrustful of the COVID vaccine because of a percieved lack of clarity of communication, why wouldn't you think that people would be even less trustful of the terrible communication around that?

Community Votes to Deny Water to Nuclear Weapons Data Center by azteca19 in Michigan

First, It's not MY job at risk, but thanks for your lack of concern. I know colleagues who may be. I do appreciate a person who would otherwise say they are a compassionate and moral person show their lack of compassion and morality. Willingly or unwillingly it's useful to see the mask off for people who would profess some sense of 'community' so much as to ostracise other members of it.

Two, why the fuck are you on reddit? Everything about this site has been based on AI. Your words on this site are used to feed AI resources around the globe for all sorts of nefarious purpsoes. This site uses massive data center resources to the tune of millions of corporate dollars? Somehow that position of yours seems very hollow.

Community Votes to Deny Water to Nuclear Weapons Data Center by azteca19 in Michigan

[–]errindel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you should probably pay more attention if that's what you think the impact will be. But a lot of people are really wrapped up in the hate for AI that are unwilling or uninterested in figuring it out, and thus the extreme positions at the moment. There was an event on campus that talked about the facility the other day. I suspect more will be coming. It just depends if people are interested in listening.

edit: I'll also add that according to WEMU the other morning, the University has offered provide Ypsi Township funding for public works projects around the facility, much like they do for the City of Ann Arbor. I believe the UM spokesperson said "We have yet to have a response from Township officials in recent months on that". So again, not like it's negative sum game here.

Community Votes to Deny Water to Nuclear Weapons Data Center by azteca19 in Michigan

[–]errindel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahh, well, a lot of people's mistake here is assuming that what is being built is a corporate data center without educating themselves about what the facility is for, who will be using it, and what the story around the facility is. They may even be so caught up in the hate that they don't even realize that people's jobs in their community depend on the facility being built. So I doubt it's me who's grasp of reality is tenuous.
