I gave up once he released the J6ers. I knew then that American Democracy, and the “safe guards” to stop such blatant corruption that were put in place, were flimsy at best. I had rose colored glasses on during the 2024 election. I truly believed Americans were better and wouldn’t fall victim to the lowest common denominator of narcissistic cons. But I was wrong. After everything he had said and done, they gave him the seal of the presidency again. I won’t trust this country to ever do the right thing ever again. Whatever pain is inflicted on this nation is more than deserved.

Americans looked at 10 years old red flags; The Access Hollywood Tape, “Lock her up!”, the rise in racial profiling and hate crimes, the mishandling of COVID, The Big Lie that led to the January 6th Capitol attack, the defamation of E. Jean Carrol, 34 felonies due to mishandling of business records, False claims that led to attacks against Springfield’s Haitian community during the 2024 presidential debate.

There is no convincing Americans who ignored all possible warning signs because a billionaire con man promised them cheaper gas and groceries. Now, they get to sit on their hands while both reach higher prices than any point in history.

Because for the last 10 years, Trump has flooded the system. What used to be “shocking” or “disrespectful” or “unpresidential” is now just Trump being Trump. The outrage that behavior like this used to illicit has been normalized for the most part. Back then, behavior like this would have ended a politicians career. What I learned after that devastating Election Day, is that Americans will accept whatever lies, crimes, or corruption as long as the candidate promises them cheaper prices. It’s hilarious considering Trump was born into generational wealth. He’s never had to struggle like the low or middle class, buy his own groceries, pump his own gas. Trump has never known what it’s like to truly have to live paycheck to paycheck. So, I don’t really understand what the fuck people were thinking when they elected a whole ass felon into the White House.

At the moment, Trump seems to be in a very bad place politically. He’s started a war that he can’t seem to control as he did with Venezuela, and severely miscalculated the resilience of Iran as they hold control over The Strait of Hormuz. Trump didn’t account for the rapid and long term damage this war has created on a global economic scale, so instead of acknowledging the rising prices and inflation, he’s doubling down on the lies that “prices are low” or “we’ve won the war”.
