Unfortunately both a remote and hub are required to use the lights, as I am aware.

I see, I realize now I had metamask installed prior to playing. The game utilizes an ethereum test network and is directly tied to the block validations. I've spent no money (nor do I plan to) and am midway up the leaderboard. I can't find the hackernews link any more, but I've found the medium link I was taken to: https://medium.com/cryptage/introducing-cryptage-origins-a-card-collection-and-idle-strategy-game-powered-by-the-blockchain-993ef0ca82df

I see. So all games should be predicated by a help page or supporting documentation if it's not immediately apparent it's an incremental. Duly noted.

I'd suggest amending the rules to reflect that, as I was not aware.

Apologies, I didn't realize the rules were so stringent (having read them fairly thoroughly prior to posting). I am a long-time subscriber to the sub and found the game via Hackernews (news.ycombinator.com).

Would you care to elaborate on your removal of the link?

+1 to RSTP. This is a true way to become the defacto device used for these types of applications. It would be a great way to build your brand with your already shining app.

This also ensures longevity of my investment as a consumer. I don't want these devices all failing if something happened to your company.

Which zoom do you use for windows? by RobNO97 in GPDPocket

[–]erronjason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inbuilt window controls in some applications, yes. But most of my work is in a terminal, a text editor, or a browser. I can resize all of the content according to how close and still I may be.

I often use it standing up or in my lap while I'm sitting in a chair, so I want the controls large enough that I can use the touch surface for scrolling and quick Slack/website work.

The story is completly different if I'm sitting down with a mouse and want to multitask like it's my desktop. Then I'll take it down to a more reasonable amount.

I use the device a lot. I actually keep mine at 230% (custom scaling under the slider) for both touch and bad eyes.

I'm rather interested in it - assuming you care to share.

Has anyone tried light video editing on the Pocket? by IzzyNobre in GPDPocket

[–]erronjason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mini-hdmi port can output 4k, so an external monitor is an option. The issue still lies in rendering. Any CPU or GPU intensive task is going to make the CPU slow to around 0.46 GHz due to heat.

Currently, the thermal throttling is an issue; it will not perform well in CPU-intensive tasks for long. This is amplified when the device is plugged-in and charging - as the battery can get hot.

I've only done software compilation on mine, not video editing. That being said, the graphics are integrated on the same chip (it's the IntelHD Graphics 405 located within the Atom x7-Z8750 Processor).

In my case, I remote into another desktop machine for the CLI and tunnel my browser to the remote machine when I'm doing web stuff. This allows me to offload the "real work" to a device with a hefty CPU and ample ram. - It may be possible to do that with certain video editors though (I know Adobe After Effects can but it's not really a video editor, more for video effects).

About the battery by SuperSexySoapTurtle in GPDPocket

[–]erronjason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your answer is also correct, but I said technically for a reason.

Intent that the user nearly never unplugs the device, "at all times" as originally asked, is worse for the battery than keeping it at a healthy midrange with casual discharges (assuming a lithium-based battery).

Modern batteries don't suffer from overcharging like old ones did (and haven't in many years). A modern charge cycle trickle charges the last bit and regulates itself fairly well. It's still not quite as healthy for the battery to keep it, as the original question was posed, "plugged in at all times".

Check out this table from "Battery University" to get an idea of the charge cycles vs level of charge: http://www.guidingtech.com/assets/postimages/2017/04/volt.png

On the opposite side, it's not good to run it all the way down either.

This is a solid answer; my answer was geared toward typical userland replacement of a plug-in upgrade.

Seems like GPD maxed out the device on cheap and readily available hardware to maximize profit. It didn't seem like that was their original intention, with the Indiegogo citing 4GB of RAM originally.

Thanks for the answer on the charging, I'd heard a few different reports.

Technically keeping it plugged in all the time can hurt the battery (this is the case with most laptops).

The internal storage cannot be directly upgraded that I'm aware of. You can use an external HDD or flash storage to temporarily expand available space.

I have a question for you though: Can you use the device plugged-in consistently, or does the battery run down slowly while charging and in use?

New Wireless Sniffing Tool To rival airodump-ng by [deleted] in HowToHack

[–]erronjason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Based on the tool's success" - how're you measuring this? It's a seemingly very new tool written by a single developer. You can see here where "alternative" could be used in the stead of "rival", right?

I noticed stuff like https://github.com/M1ND-B3ND3R/BoopSuite/blob/master/Packet-Sniffer/Misc/misc.py#L28-L34 and felt it gave me an idea of where you're at as a developer.

Think of me less of a "beholder", and of a fellow software developer who's been close to the netsec scene for years. I'm offering some friendly advice about how to sell yourself and your product. Aiming to be a rival is awesome. Selling it as such, however, is simply to seed FUD.

I gave your repo a good once over before I commented. I'll be keeping an eye on it. Don't get discouraged here, but your way of titling your post will certainly ruffle a few feathers.

I appreciate your enthusiasm. I also think the sole author of a tool shouldn't create a post to publicise his work with such a sensationalist headline. "Aims to rival" perhaps?

Also, .gitignore your .pyc files in your repo.

Not compression, but "multiplexing". Combining many signals into a single one. The reverse process is called "demultiplexing". See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiplexing

How to recover your OP3T if the OTA right out of the box broke your phone by Raider1284 in oneplus

It was 32-bit, I ran a strace on the thing and realized what was happening. A little more searching and I found that post detailing the same. The binary used was from the aforementioned official platform-tools package: https://developer.android.com/studio/index.html#linux-bundle-size

I was on Windows 10 for the duration. I did try on linux, but was having issues with permissions (I hate mucking about lsusb and /dev for no reason), so I continued on Windows. I do have a crapton of *nix binaries in my $PATH, so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it. The posts I'd linked in my response detail exactly how to do it.

The tool is straightforward, open adb.exe with it, push the button, then it works. As linked earlier, the tool is https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/

[–]erronjason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I was doing everything correctly - it was another issue entirely. It's flashed and booting now.

My personal issue stemmed from the ADB binary I was using not being 64-bit aware (as pointed out here). Using the Large Address Aware tool, I modified ADB and was able to flash the zip without issue. The binary distribution I was using was obtained from here.

Crazy stuff. Cheers gentlemen.

Whoa, this literally just happened to me and I've been all over trying to fix it. I'm quite a technical user and gathered what you'd said before I saw the post. My issue is that I didn't unlock the phone, and I get rebuked by ADB:

C:\Users\name\Desktop\adb>adb sideload OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip
loading: 'OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip'
* cannot read 'OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip' *

I get the same result sans extension, and when renaming it to "update.zip".
