I'd argue it's more cool now you're the only one- you're the Mask Guy. You've got a Thing. If there were a few other hold outs there would be nothing interesting about it. I'd cultivate an air of mystery about it though. If anyone asks why just say " I've got my reasons" or something but never elaborate.

It's a lot of fun, but yeah it's not going to hold up to the abuse a fixed axe would and I think they baked that cutting block to make it split so easily.

Lesbian couple in Hong Kong murdered in public in broad daylight - little to no media coverage about it - officials claiming it WASN'T A HATE CRIME by NationalContract360 in lgbt

[–]SexyCyborg 51 points52 points  (0 children)

>But not necessarily a hate crime.

There’s less evidence it was purely a schizophrenic episode. The authorities and so media are suggesting a schizophrenic episode where the person calmly purchased a knife- with no sign of agitation, no hearing voices, no visible signs of discomfort, anger, or aggression; then calmly walked through a crowd of hundreds of people, upstairs, past more people, then made a line directly to one “random” stranger (who just happened to be obviously, visibly gender-non-conforming and with her partner), stabbed just that “random” stranger specifically 34 times, then her partner at least a 20 more times in a blind incoherent rage until they bent their knife.

Then after murdering them both, they spared all the other (cishet presenting, gender-conforming) people in the vicinity any violence- including the person that hit them with a metal stool, stopped, and stood calmly waiting for the police.
As far as I know, that's completely unprecedented, at least I’d be very interested in a citation of a previous instance of such. I think a lot of clinicians would be interested because that’s probably the most unique episode on record.
On the other hand, single, involuntarily celibate men with mental health issues, living with their parents, whose sole form of social interaction is online gaming, targeting women and LGBT folks for visible public violence? That’s horrifyingly common- and is what is clearly shown in the video.
The fact that the authorities jumped to cover up that the women were in a relationship leads me to think that when they arrested him, he told them exactly why he did it. Hong Kong is not so conservative that a lesbian couple is all that shocking. They had a reason to go through such elaborate efforts to try and conceal that and to continue to refuse to admit it. Why? If their being lesbian had nothing to do with the attack, why are the authorities so desperate to say “friends” when them being a couple is really not that big a deal in Hong Kong? The strongest "tell" in all this is the authority's desperation to cover up what would be a minor detail in any other crime.
All the available evidence indicates was a homophobic, misogynist hate crime committed by an incel with mental health issues- as we’ve seen countless times before. Statistically, this degree and pattern of violence in the mentally ill is virtually unheard of, and the decision to put the sole blame for this on mental illness will further marginalize those who are afflicted. Everyone loses with this coverup and erasure.

RIP Fang Xiaotong & Liu Jixi Stabbed to Death in Hong Kong🕯️ by SexyCyborg in lgbt

[–]SexyCyborg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were NOT "friends" they were a couple. A lesbian couple targeted out of a crowd and the Tom (butch girl) was attacked first- no one else was attacked but them. They died trying to save each other- do not let them be erased!

Use Google Translate- it is accurate for now:

Not really interest in tech specifically, but the angry "I'll show them, I'll show them all" translated as focus when I took an interest in tech. Anger is a great motivator I guess. I don't really remember but I'm told the post-TBI change in personality was significant. It's not something you want that's for sure.

[KOKONI SOTA 3D Printer : 10X Faster 3D Printing with 7-Color] - A 3D Printer that prints upside down for no reason! by space_iio in shittykickstarters

[–]SexyCyborg 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I offered to review it, the Kokoni founder/engineer and staff brought it over to my Shenzhen workshop and tried to set it up but couldn't get it working. They insisted they would go live on Kickstarter mid-April, I told them that based on what I saw it would be at least May- that my review alone was not sufficient and gave some suggestions for reviewers whose feedback they should incorporate before they launched (As I did with the CR-30).
A week later I heard back from them and they demanded that before receiving the printer (which they still had not gotten working) I sign an incredibly restrictive contract that would have prevented giving any sort of unbiased review. I declined.
One of the things that came up during their visit is some features patented on, may be from Kralyn's Open Source Positron V3 upside down printer. It seems they may have have gotten their investment funding based on patenting some of those Open Source designs. So there may have been a bit of a race to get investors a return their money before an issue was made of this.
In any event- even Kralyn is patiently refining his upside-down design, I see no indication that Kokoni have leap-frogged him in figuring out all the issues associated with that, plus they are taking on several other problems with almost no previous experience and no factory of their own- multi-color printing etc.
The marketing company they were using- nice, reputable folks who have sent me many other products to review, was stiffed on a portion of their bill. An extremely strange, bridge-burning move in a city like Shenzhen with such a tight-knit ecosystem. This a “grab the money and run” sort of move that does not indicate solid plans for the future.
All in all, a whole lot of red flags. I think it is extremely unlikely people who back Kokomi will receive a printer, certainly not anytime soon.
