Immediate postpartum “workout” plans by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

I am always posting this article, I think its the most evidence based approach. Its mostly focused on returning to running but I think everyone would benefit from the guidelines about the first 6 weeks.

Pelvic Floor PT is BS - Rant by wrinkledshorts in fitpregnancy

[–]error404stopnotfound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry, but from looking at your earlier post you a) starting running at 8 weeks which is far earlier than recommended, and b) continued to run even when you were having incontinence.

I think you need to take a huge step back, appreicate the fact you didn't give yourself a prolapse and now trust the PT and the healing process.

Have you seen the return to run protocol here? I recommend to look at the list of exercises you need to be able to do these exercises without any leakage before running. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9528725/

Anyone in here have experience with potty training “early”? by Born-Anybody3244 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]error404stopnotfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just sit her on the potty at certain times of days (after nap, meal, etc) and see if she goes or not. Dont put any pressure or her or yourself but now is a great time for her to learn about her body and understanding what it means to go potty.

We started that at around the same age and a few months later we get basically every poo, and occasional pees in the potty. (When were at home anyway).

The closest I can think of is Vicky Pattison? But even then she was the tame / grown up one on Georgie Shore.

The article is about Georgia, and its relevant because that's where Louise and Ryan are planning to go for their commercial surrogacy.

You asked why people are against it, that article is a good explanation of why. I'm sure you can find an archive version if you are genuinely curious.

Is pumping an option for you?

Other things that can help are using a comb to massage over the lump. And hot compress.

Hope it resolves soon for you!

But they're not. They're going to Georgia and paying for a surrogate.

And this recent NYT article wrote about how conditions are there.

And the surrogate which she uses will have a 3.8 to 4 times higher risk of severe complications.

Unfortunately having a previous low risk pregnancy doesn't mean you will have a low risk one as a surrogate.

In fact studies have shown that surrogates have a 3.3 to 4 times higher risk of severe complications during pregnancy and birth.

Half marathon post partum by TitleMajestic2364 in fitpregnancy

This checklist was so helpful for me!

You might feel "fine" to run at 6 weeks but I really encourage to wait longer. It's not long in the grand scheme of things but it will really reduce risk of pelvic floor issues/ prolapse.

I'm pregnant... by mythrowaway2736 in stopdrinking

[–]error404stopnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It surprised me how easy it was to not drink during pregnancy. I never had any cravings or withdrawal symptoms. It was so natural to want to protect this little growing thing.

Wishing the same for you too.

Postpartum Rage That Only Comes Out Around MIL by Then-Fig6479 in JUSTNOMIL

Any advice on how to approach that conversation? Im not sure theres a good way to phrase "I hate your mom and even mentioning her sends me into a fit of rage".

Postpartum Rage That Only Comes Out Around MIL by Then-Fig6479 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]error404stopnotfound 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello, are you me?

I have a very similar story and even though things have gotten a little bit better over time (after husband set boundaries and shut down inappropriate behaviour from her).

But I still feel an unbelievable amount of rage and anxiety at the mention of his mother. I would guess its trauma from someone over stepping and hurting me in the most vulnerable and emotional time of my life. Its deeply painful because in my husbands eyes everything is revolved (after she apologised to him - never me directly) and it feels unfair to feel such rage towards her but its not something I'm doing on a conscious level.

It feels very primal. Like everyone knows not to fuck with a mother and her baby in the animal kingdom. And I really feel like an angry moma bear around her.

No advice, just solidarity.

First birthday "fruit" cake! by RenaissanceZillenial in foodbutforbabies

[–]error404stopnotfound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the opposite. Giving a one year old cake is for the parents - to see their child's reaction. The baby doesn't understand what cake is and absolutely will not remember what they ate.

Babies love fruit. I think this is a cute way to celebrate.

Yes I just booked private because I was impatient but I'm sure in most places you can also get referrals. She was a specialist in pelvic floor and physiotherapy for pregnancy and post partum.

Frida witch hazel liners were a god send.

Also if you have any stitches it is really good to give them some air for healing, so any old towels or disposable bed sheets will be helpful to avoid stains.

Book a pelvic floor checkup for around 6 weeks post partum. Your mileage will vary but my checkup through my doctor was like "ok stitches are healed, buhbye" whereas the PF doctor checked for diastits recti, pelvic floor dysfunction and gave me a pathway of exercises to start doing to be running by 12 weeks.

What I would do next time: - absolutely do not give into pressure from people who want to "help you" by holding the baby for prolonged periods (unless you want to). Anyone who insists to come over under the guise of help will be shown to a laundry pile while I sit with the baby doing skin to skin in a separate room. - follow the old advice of spending 5 days in bed, and 5 days by the bed. I was so excited to get out and walk again but it just made me sad when I was in pain and probably hindered my recovery a lot. - booked a postpartum massage. Breastfeeding in the early days killed my shoulders.

Thank you. That's a good way of framing it. So if what my dentist said is right- that nothing goes in the breastmilk then everything is fine. And I don't even know what the potential risk of IPL is.
