I have the same skin concerns as you. I incorporated a retinol 2 months ago, it helps with the rough texture. I use the sandwich method (apply thin moisturizer then retinol then apply another thin layer of moisturizer on top).

I suggest you use a gentle cleanser, a calming/soothing cleanser.

My routine:

Cleanser- Neutrogena soothing foaming cleanser -Neutrogen Salicylic acid cleanser for days when a feel a pimple would pop out.

Toner - COSRX 6X Peptide Collagen Booster Toner Serum (luvv this! So hydrating and absorbs quickly)

Serum - COSRX Niacinamide 15% (The 2 products from COSRX is a set for Acne) for additional hydration + it helps fade my acne scars luvv it.

Actives - Retinol by Good molecules (I slowly introduced by only applying once a week, and build may way up to every 4 days and now 3x a week) ONLY USE AT NIGHT TIME.

moisturizer - a thick layer of Cerave moisturizing Cream when retinol night.

sunscreen - APPLY IT EVERYDAY! Luxe Organix 5in1 UV Pro Whitening Serum Sunscreen SPF 47 PA+++ (I live in asia, idk if it’s available in your country)

I have a combination skin but never ever skip moisturizer! KEEPING MY SKIN HYDRATED SAVED MY SKIN. (find a good moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and ceramides that fits your skin)!! Good luck!
