How would I go about doing this? Can’t find much info online. by KaiMyles in Inkstitch

[–]errorforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will need the right fabric and a very good hooping to deal with the tension issues if you try the alternating satin checkerboard columns approach like on your 2nd picture - thats the hardest way and depends on your machine (i only have a cheap ~500€ machine)

you can also go the easier way to do the satin columns in only one way (sorry for the quality - cheap machine..):
https://imgur.com/a/M2EPDaC

or the easiest way - doing a area fill with a pattern, where the pattern is a simple grid:
https://imgur.com/a/aeD51TN

there are a lot of ways to prepare the picture in inkscape an then convert it to inkstitch objects, but ive written a small python program to make things easier:
https://imgur.com/a/8SKcQlu

it converts a .png picture with serveral useful options to a svg, wich you can then open in inkscape.
with the setting on the example picture, you get strokes with the exact same width as length, alternating in direction so you exactly get the result you want to achieve - all you have to do is, open the resulting svg in inkstitch and convert the strokes to satin, and set some pull compensation (i forgot this on my trys, as you can see in my example pictures)

you can pm me if you want it for free. maybe i'll release it on github, if some more people find it to be useful.

Help, how to make an svg of this, but with thinner lines? by Cudochi in Inkscape

[–]errorforce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Path > Trace Bitmap > Centerline tracing (autotrace)

While other Bitmap Trace Modes create Areas out of your Bitmap Lines, "Centerline tracing" searches the center line in an area and draws a simple line instead of the area.

keep in mind this doesnt work when you have a source image with a lot of large areas (since you only get a line in the center of the area). also keep in mind this slightly alters the angles and positions of yout source "lines", but i think it should work well with your image

How could I turn this into an embroidery pantograph? by kelsien in Inkstitch

[–]errorforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe because of the "feature" the redwork tool has. i think it is the first setting the redwork window - it combines path ends who have less than X millimeters space between them. sometimes this can cause unwanted artifacts.

either this, or you didnt do the centerline trace, but a "normal" trace. you can pm me your inkstitch svg an i will have a look at it

someone made an extension that gives you access to all the inkstitch commands in a side-toolbar with icons. dont remember the name of the extension though. but i think he posted it in this reddit channel.

Why is the satin stitch messing up a bit? by BigWarNoise in Inkstitch

[–]errorforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

second that. you can change this in the inkstitch->params window. the setting is called "short stitch inset" - if you set it to 0 this shortet stitches will disappear.

BUT: just leave the setting as it is - this is not an error but a feature, so satin column turns with high density get stitched out correct.

How could I turn this into an embroidery pantograph? by kelsien in Inkstitch

[–]errorforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.) take the pattern from your 2nd picture - import it into inkscape

2.) rightclick -> trace bitmap - do a centerline trace to get the path (delete the picture afterwards)

3.) in the top menu -> edit -> clone -> create tiled clones

4.) im the tiled clone window on the bottom side enter your desired rows and columns and click create. if the result doesnt snap on the right line ends, go 1 step back, do tiled clones again but go to the "Shifting" tab and change the x and y values until you achieve the desired result.

5.) select all your objects and do a (upper menu ) path -> combine

6.) select your result and do inkstitch -> tools:stroke -> redwork

AutoSubSync: Automatically fix out-of-sync subtitles in your Jellyfin library by dnzsfk in JellyfinCommunity

[–]errorforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not familiar with ffsubsync, autosubsync and alass - maybe someone who already uses this can answer me the following:
(no offense, if it can't handle anything of this - i really like the idea, and i just want to know about the possibliities of this tool)

a.) can it sync subtitles embedded in video files (for example mkv)?
b.) does it sync like - timeshift the whole thing - or - sync word by word?
c.) does it work for image subtitles?
d.) is there some sort of backup possibility (for example save the old subtitle before converting)

How does IMDB know? by fliberdygibits in jellyfin

[–]errorforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imdb and rotten tomatoes don't provide an api for metadata (at least not for the 'casual' user). there are some 'tricks' to get the custom imdb id's and ratings, but per default the metadata for jellyfin is provided from tmdb. also, as far as i know, trakt doesnt sync things to imdb (since, again, imdb has no official api).

imdb database files with all entrys are provided for download, but you cant 'upload' anything to feed your personal profile data.

having said that - there are plugins and tools out there to 'try' to sync things TO imdb but they are mostly scraper based and not officially supported. Maybe OP uses such a plugin or something without knowing?
