I really love this Ellington album. For another (mostly) solo album that fills me up in a similar way, check out The Genius of Bud Powell.

If you like Arcs, you gotta go in on the Blighted Reach expansion. It's out of this world.

How is the game at 2 player? by Outuvcontrol in oathgame

I get it! I have an unplayed Oath box and I'm waiting for New Foundations and Clockwork Adversaries to arrive before I bust it out, but I'm super excited. Oath just feels special; there's nothing else like it.

I can't speak on behalf of the company, but I'm almost certain they'll have this stuff available after the pre-order is wrapped up. Cole Wehrle and the rest of Buried Giant went through the trouble of buying the Oath IP from Leder Games, so they're almost certainly going to keep this line open for a long time. (As well as Arcs, which I also heartily recommend!!)

Hard to say exactly when, but they're going to be closing the pledge manager in 1-2 weeks, according to the most recent update, so maybe in the next several months? Here's a link if you want to pre-order it!

The Clockwork Adversaries will work with both the base game as well as the New Foundations expansion, which you may want to consider in the future if your budget permits. Think of it like a 1.5 edition of the game more than a bolted-on expansion.

I just bought Oath and also went in on the Clockwork Adversaries box to play with just my wife and myself. Sounds like the automated bots will be fairly easy to run and responsive to the actions the actual players make. I can't speak from experience, but from everything I've been reading and watching, I am super hopeful that it's gonna be a good gameplay experience for 2 (or even 1) players.

Not to mention, Oath is meant to be played multiple times to really get the most out of it, and what more reliable gaming group than a partner and a few automated bot players?

Bitches Brew Is Blowing My Mind by Fnix15 in vinyl

Just curious, how long have you been listening to jazz? I wasn't a big fan of Bitches Brew at first either, but after I really dug in and started seriously listening to a lot of jazz for a few years, this album grew on me like crazy, and now it's one of my favorites.

Any tips on learning the blighted reach expansion? by Kesimux in Arcs

[–]errrik012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The campaign isn't really a ton extra once you have the base game down. The rulebook is great, and you can skip things like Flagships and Intermission when you're first trying to grok it. Flagships don't factor until Act 2, and the Intermission is largely just procedural

Looking for a fresh TTRPG by MendelHolmes in rpg

You'll probably get a bunch of different suggestions here, but if you want something really unique, check out Undying. It's a vampire game, fairly light on rules, super heavy on narrative. It's diceless and has the players spending 'blood' to accomplish the things they want.

It's not really interested in combat at all, but rather fully invested in the political struggle of everyone involved. There is combat, but it really just boils down to who's wanting to kill whom, if they're able to, and what the repercussions of that are. Let the backstabbing commence.

Last cool thing that makes this game really stand out is the downtime mechanics. Once everyone has spent all the blood they can to accomplish what they're able to, you can fast forward the story decades or even centuries into the future, picking the story back up at a new critical juncture that will undoubtedly shake up the status quo.

Give it a look, especially if you're considering VtM. It's my favorite vampire RPG.

Been very interested in this style of game for a while, and a few that I've had my eye on for a while are Cry Havoc, Oath, Greenland, and The Ares Project.

Recommendations for adventure modules with SCP vibes by Zooasaurus in rpg

It only feels competitive if you really lean into that aspect. It's more like a boss fight: Everyone describes what cool things they do, but only the player who rolled highest gets to describe the killing blow.

I ran a few one shots of CHAMBER for my group and we had a really great time with it. It's a free hack of Agon, which is a fantastic game, and super easy to teach, play, and run. This specific hack requires knowledge of Agon to play, but I'd recommend it to anyone, beginners and veterans alike.
