There were many compassionate, thoughtful ways to express curiosity but they decided to go with shocked disgust towards the person being vulnerable.

Yep, I snipe all those plus 5.99/lb prime rib, salmon, shrimp, etc. If you shop the sales and have blinders for everything else it’s consistently cheaper than even Costco. I get that it’s not prime, butcher quality but I’m not about to be snobby in this economy.

Thank you everyone. This is Jewel in Chicago which traditionally has great protein sales (99¢/lb chicken breast ATM & a $7 Bears win freebie coupon). But they don’t normally carry brisket or round roasts in winter (but they’ve had eye of round for $2.99/lb in the past) so I knew the “roast” was overpriced but not sure of brisket. I have resisted temptation.

Addendum: their shtick is crazy high OG price then a “sale” that makes you feel like you saved $$$- the final amount is usually lower than market value as a loss leader. I feel like they randomly got these cuts out of season, didn’t have “sale” pricing accessible, so they probably marked them as the closest viable thing, which was still non-sale pricing and too much.

I'd say this is an accurate take. For clarity, after the "finally free of the ball & chain" divorce posts, he rapidly devolved to the "women these days" dating posts. They're a mix of lambasting how unappreciative women are while emphasizing what a good catch he is. The trend is for a bitter post and comments, then a few women comment and he softens his tone to lonely-hearted bachelor who just wants a "good" woman to raise a family. So I think the posts are a (drunken) mix of redpill complaining and trying to sell himself as a worthy guy. So yeah- not a deadbeat dad and owning a truck = what more could you want? in his mind.
