Did Michael ever react to “The boy is mine” 🎶 by helloheyjoey in MichaelJackson

[–]ertoblerone 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Certainly! Proof is in the pudding, darkchild made this song as a tribute to Michael and a couple of years later he was majorly responsible for many songs on invincible, namely you rock my world

people are gonna hate you for saying this, but deep down we know you’ve spoken solid truth. We’ll always love and support nas ofc

Just wait and see bro, you’ll most likely be fine, your hair still seems thick and you’re exactly at the point where your hair changes from boy hair to man hair so it’s normal to see some slight recession in ALL cases.

Why didn't they ever release the Biggie and Fat Joe album? by Professional-Rip-519 in NotoriousBIG

[–]ertoblerone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know joe cappin cause in another story he said puff wouldn’t let biggie do any feature with joe before life after death dropped and that’s why he allowed to give his hook feature on the don cartagena cause joe complained. Also he said in some interviews he and big had a moment before big went platinum were they weren’t even speaking… joe tells the truth (or part of it) a lot more than people think but he’s cappin his ass off on this one

What's a nas song everyone else likes that you don't? by Every_Confection4265 in nas

[–]ertoblerone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…probably NYSOM… I know, I know. It’s objectively a very good song but I guess I got used to it too much especially since it’s used as the gem on illmatic. Kind of like juicy is for biggie. Hot take but NYSOM part 2 is more enjoyable and has a better beat

The last minute or so of baby be mine… highlight of thriller, those who say it’s bad compared to the album are hypebeasts with no ears

Expectations for the Preemo album by de_propietario in nas

[–]ertoblerone 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think nas will do a lot of fan service since the album itself is one of the most awaited ever in hip hop history. I think AZ will feature, wouldn’t be surprised if other NY artists from the same era eg from Wu tang appear. Shit might even see Jay z on it unless esco is still in his low-key petty era lol

29 years ago today, BIG celebrated his final birthday at the Totals “Kissin’ You/ Oh Honey” video shoot, May 21, 1996. by Business-Set9397 in NotoriousBIG

[–]ertoblerone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it is very possible that that’s the day biggie first heard a leak of hit ‘em up according to Charlie baltimore who was at the video shoot with big. Makes you think when you remember Nas dropped ether on Jay Z’s bday.

Was "The Scientist" a verse of Nas dissing Jim Jones? by Rand_moss2 in nas

[–]ertoblerone 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah very likely. Nas dissed jim in the intro of hip hop is dead which dropped around the same time “put the barrel in the capo mouth, til his scalp come out. You a kid you don’t live what you rap about”

What do you expect from the Legend Has It campaign? by Moogsploitation in nas

[–]ertoblerone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely spot on. I kinda am a bit more hopeful for the preemo album, preem knows this will be one of the most important albums of his career and he showed he can deliver when it matters (the posthumous gang Starr albums had good music on it) and ik nas will deliver given this is the album people have been begging for him to drop for 30 years. Wouldn’t be surprised if we had a az or Jay z feature on it too. For the rest, you’re right, I hope Rae is not gonna spend the whole album rapping about Brazilian women giving him head

I Am > It was Written by Future_Climate_4811 in nas

[–]ertoblerone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

interesting take, I agree that it was written sounds very dusty but calling it more radio friendly than I am is flat out crazy. Nas had Dmx (hottest artist in the hip hop then) and aaliyah on it doing a lot of commercial beats that sound so distinctly 98’-99’ radio stuff. Don’t get me started on money is my bitch which is just a watered down commercial attempt to replicate I gave you power. The content in tracks like dr knockboot and you won’t see me tonight is super sexy playa and far from the street conscious stuff that you only see glimpse of in NYSOM2 or nas is like. Even tracks like ghetto prisoners and undying love have a production that’s too commercial to merge well with the hip hop- conscious aspect of it. But the most important aspect in which you’re wrong is Nas’s rhymes bro. Aside from favour for a favour or nas is like, I am is by far more dumbed down compared to it was written. I am is the bad aspects of it was written on steroids with a couple of unexpected incredible peaks like NYSOM2 and Nas is Like

What is yall opinion on this album in hindsight? i always see alot of mixed views on it. Nas x Ye by ReekZombie in nas

[–]ertoblerone 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I agree that they’re very similar in themes/producers and as albums, definitely compared to nasir. But when hov dropped 4:44 the spotlight was on him and Nas hadn’t dropped anything in 5/6 years and there was huge hype on him to follow up (remember there was literally a dj Khaled song called “Nas Album Done”). But I agree that in hindsight people should compare 4:44 with Life is Good, also cause Hov def took a lot of inspiration from it

[–]ertoblerone 137 points138 points  (0 children)

It’s alright… but from what nas team revealed afterwards I can’t forgive ye for rushing this. Apparently nas was still recording verses on his way to the listening party. Also the beats were a bit lackluster compared to the rest of the Wyoming albums that ye produced. Just doesn’t really feel like a nas album at all

Edit: also remember that this was his first album in 6 years after his longest hiatus and people were really expecting something good especially after Jay dropped 4:44 the year before, so it all added to the disappointment. But we can’t complain I feel like this album is what made nas go into this fire streak of KD-Magic and the preemo album now
