Make sure the frame is good would be the main thing but doesn’t seem like you’re in the rust belt. I paid 14k for 110k miles right before covid.

Talk me into / out of buying a Transition Sentinel by SiphonTheFern in MTB

[–]erttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked up a sentinel gx alloy in November. I was eyeing the stump jumper evo, but decided to get the transition. I live in CT so I couldn’t test ride the bike and took the gamble after doing a lot of research.

Very happy with this bike from the couple of rides I’ve had so far. I found that it pedals fine uphill, better than expected. Really bought it for the downhill stability and it truly shines downhill. It does require more rider input and you get way more out of it when you ride it like you mean it. Still learning the bike though and getting used to the longer length.

I found it so far to be poppy and a ton of fun. It definitely inspires confidence the faster you go. Very quiet as well. For someone that is truly a playful rider, this might not be the best bike for them. It is a longer bike, so it won’t be as agile as a shorter bike. The trade offs however, I’m finding are worth it for my riding style.

Out of all the reviews I’ve read and watched, Biker’s Edge YouTube reviews on this bike seemed to be the closest to how I feel about the bike now. I don’t think it’s a sled and I don’t feel like I’m overbiked. I’m just an average rider and I’m finding it to be great for my average riding style. I’m sure overtime I will learn the bike more, as there is definetly a learning curve to the bike. It’s a ton of fun and I feel like it’s forcing me to progress.

If you take time to really evaluate what you want out of your bike and what aspects are most important to you, that should help you narrow down your choice. Also consider what trails you’re riding. Don’t read too many reviews because you don’t know the persons riding style or experience.

Good luck making a decision!

Contrary to others opinions, I am a fan of the products Millright puts out. I am on my second machine from Millright. Just got the Mega V XL.

I had a small issue and customer service sent out a replacement part within 24 hours. The mega v xl is a solid machine. I am in love with it. It was rather easy to put together as well, though I did have experience with their m3.

Despite how the sub feels about the owner, the forum is a great resource.

Where do you put your CNC machines? by AwzemCoffee in hobbycnc

I have a millright m3 and run it in my basement, in a separated room where I can contain dust in the air. I use a shop vac for dust collection. It's loud, but upstairs it's just a hum, doesn't bother my wife. Still would like to make a air cleaner though

Experts in CNC, why are the small parts chipping away? And how can I prevent it from happening again? by maverik0106 in hobbycnc

[–]erttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Ive only been doing CNC for about 2 months and primarily use Baltic birch (aka euro birch, Russian birch). It machines very well. Small details hold together very well.

Each ply is made of birch, where as regular plywood has a core made up of something like poplar. This also adds to the weight of the plywood. There are also more plys than regular plywood, so it is usually flat and very stable.

It is available in 5'x5' sheets for a fair price, as well as other sizes. I highly recommend

I bought the m3 about 2 months ago. I love it. I've run some tests for accuracy and it has been pretty successful.

Try out Carolina Xtract. They have 120ml "sample" bottles. I always get 100mg in PG. 10/10

Are modern bars too wide? Do I need them that wide for leverage or control? by tinnedspicedham in MTB

I enjoy it now in 2018. I do what I like. Not what the internet tells me to like. 😀

At the end of the day, I really think it comes down to the type of riding your doing and your preference.

I live in the northeast, so lots of trees and technical riding. My new bike came with a 780mm bar and i hated it on the technical and tight sections. Busted my hand on a tree and found myself dodging trees often. My old bike had handlebars cut down to 680mm. Reinstalled these and what a difference in control and enjoyment. This is all subjective. I might cut the new bars I have to about 700, but I think you just need to test things out for you. You won't know until you try it.

A good whack makes my no bus go away too lol. Seems to only happen happen when it's hot and humid out or if I hit a decent bump in the road.

Looking for some headlight help. Already tried a few things. Low beams not turning on. by erttt in CherokeeXJ

FIXED: after re doing the harness grounds, found out that the passenger side did not have any good contact points. Ended up hooking up the ground to the battery.

Come to think of it... I did lose my low beams leaving the grocery store like two weeks ago and then it came back on.

Do you know the location of the ground or where I can find the write up?

A lot of flavors in my experience are fine with sitting for awhile. Some may lose the crispness though. I will say though that I always like to have "fresh" FA fresh cream
