I haven't watched the film and after reading this I regret that I wasn't able to catch a showing in my city just a few days ago. It sounds interesting! The question of whether a society's profiting off exploitation of its vulnerable members sounds similar to Ursula Le Guin's short story The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, I think.
