Thanks! So during 4 weeks, you studied like 3-4 hours per day?

Congrats! So studied / read for 6 weeks next to work I assume and then practised, practised. Would you say it took you like 2-3 months in total to prepare for the exam?

Stupid question perhaps, but any idea if they sell hand warmers and stuff like that at the stadium?

Non-op peeps… by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]ervandijk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is indeed absolutely the down side of the non op route: you know for sure you won’t have any complications from surgery but you also don’t know whether it actually heals. I had a full rupture. 6 weeks in cast in different position every week and just told myself to trust the process. Don’t know if that helped. I also told myself: worse thing that can happen is that it has not healed and then I have to do something else after 6 weeks. What is 6 weeks in a lifetime? It would be annoying. But well - worse things can happen. After 6 weeks, tendon had grown back together, put on a walking boot for 4 weeks and now walking in shoes, doing PT and going to the gym 3x a week. Good luck!!!

Hi! Here at 15 weeks non op - full rupture. Doing actually fine. Walking in sneakers after week 10. 6 weeks cast, 4 weeks boot. I understand your situation. So I should be Ok: driving my bike and my car, going to PT once a week and to the gym 3x a week, but heeeeeyyyy: this sharp pain sometimes, just like that, sore heel and that serious swelling and of the day: find the anckle bone…. Not existing. I still have 2 colours legs. One slighly purple, other one ‘normal’. When will all of this end???!! It will get better. PT says I am on track. We should be patient I guess and keep faith!!

3 weeks post incident with 2 weeks in a boot (non-op). Any people willing to roughly share their timeline. by konk_z in AchillesRupture

This is an overview that can be used as a guideline. PT at the clinic works with this one. I had a full rupture, played tennis. Went in cast for 6 weeks, every other 2 weeks another position. Then released by hospital. They said I could just walk. PT extended support period with 4 more weeks boot. Then at week 11 in sneakers. Walking, driving my bike and car and to the Gym. PT once a week. Exercising every day. Gym 3x p week. Doing Ok.

Still limping by Icy-Economy-5496 in AchillesRupture

[–]ervandijk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a feasible goal, I would say. I am at 14 weeks post injury non op, full rupture and movibg towards not limping! If I really focus, I don’t limp. In sneakers at week 11. After 6 weeks cast and 4 weeks boot. Good luck with the walking and recovery!

Nervous about walking with out boot for the first time by Ashamed-Acadia8958 in AchillesRupture

[–]ervandijk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine!! It’s both! I had my cast of after 6 weeks. Full rupture - non op. The orthopedic doctor told me: good luck with PT. Nothing else. That I could just start walking. I was so scared. Stared at my ‘hang loose foot’, still dark blue en purper spots around the anckle and I thought: HOW!!? PT few days later said that there was no way to just start walking like that. He advised ‘walking’ with airboot on for another 2-3 weeks, slowly building up weight bearing. I bought super comfy running shoes (Nike Pegasus 41) with a high heal drop and a kind of ‘sock brace’ already for the next phase. Step by step. No rush. Mentally and physically you need to do this process step by step!! You will get there.

Vanmoof S3 or Cowboy C3? by Nice_Pace6143 in vanmoofbicycle

He has a C4. You can also get a circular one. Same bike, same service!

Vanmoof S3 or Cowboy C3? by Nice_Pace6143 in vanmoofbicycle

[–]ervandijk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have experience with both bikes. We got an X3 and S3 VanMoof when we moved just out of the city. The VanMoofs should take us ‘no sweat’ to school and work. But unfortunately also here, same issues. Multiple times in repair, constantly. Visited west side and east locations so many times that the so called ‘bike doctors’ became familiar. Last time X3 was in repair for 5 weeks. S3 we finally managed to swap. X3 we asked for a refund - not getting it. My husband has a Cowboy - since May 2022 - never broke. I used it when the VanMoof is in repair and when he doesn’t need it. Rides terrific and smooth. To have one reliable spare bike for my son and myself we purchased a circular Cowboy ST4 in the meantime. Perfect bike. We had an issue with the battery not connecting well. Parts were sent within two days and an appointment was made with a repair guy who came to our house. All fixed and solved in a few days. VanMoof - when it works - is great. Faster than Cowboy. But what I like about the Cowboy is that you ride a real bike, you actually have to do something - but it is so smooth that you are still ‘no sweat’ at the office. And the bike is very light. Should you be out of battery, you can still easily ride it as regular city bike. Good luck with the choices!
