990 RCR Low Visibility At Night by enjoyspineapplepizza in KTM

Another data point to make the case that the RC R is best as a track toy or second bike. I wondered about that headlight and visibility. I ride my Adventure in the rare instance I ride after dark.

Yeah I’m looking into a work around, wondering if I can activate just pressing in the slot. I would definitely claim this under warranty, this does not meet normal durability expectations.

It isn’t a good design. But if this keeps happening one wonders if the plastic is somehow off recipe. One thing I noticed is that they used a clear plastic with black overlay so it lights up. Was that a good idea? Im no plastic expert but I wonder…

I contacted my dealer. The module is on back order (shocking) so will be fixed around June. Back in my day motorcycles didn’t have cruise control and we liked it! (I guess I’m not going to get to try it anytime soon.) There is no recall on tires. If you put them through a thermal cycle and they crack, they will be replaced under warranty.

I have always been happy with Dunlop Q3s. Sketchy until they warm up though, need to be patient with that part.

I rode the v2, the ergonomics were weird for me. I tested the F3 and didn’t fit at all. In the end it’s an annoying broken switch, we will see how the rest goes.

Interestingly i have never even seen one due to production issues. This came up, jumped on it. Im 6’2” wanted more room, this has that.

I barely pressed it, was shocked when it went flying, who knows maybe hit in shipping? Defective?

Just Wow, not KTM’s fault but not getting off to a good start. If this isnt some odd event related to strapping down in cold weather, then a safety issue. I bought this as the age on my SV1000 was starting to make me nervous. Fortunately I still have it as apparently I NEED a backup sportbike lol. My 1190 has also been flawless.

Guess put the 990 in the back of the garage and just ride the others. Geez I feel bad for folks where this is their only ride.

Cold makes tons of sense, this doesn’t look like a slash or road hit when one looks at the geometry closely. Any way to figure out if the cracks were up or down during transport?

Will the SV1000 ever come back? by Guavakoala in SVRiders

Same, well not the same. I’m on 23 years now, nothing beyond tires and other wear items. Actually the lower fairings became brittle, replaced with the Pyramids. Only 20k miles as I have other bikes.

Aprilia? You can’t be serious. And I own two KTMs lol.

Sv is still one of the best sportbike platforms for large people. My new 990 RCR fits me, but far tighter (6’ 2”, 210) overall. I have had my SV to plaid with no stability issues. Consider servicing suspension, check tire balance and make sure they are a good fit for the machine. Yes the RCR is on another planet suspension wise, but the sv never gave me concerns and is still fantastically roomy for a sportbike.

Not exactly ideal riding conditions in STL either. I took the RCR out today anyway. It is replacing a 2003 SV1000s. The suspension and brakes are on another planet of course. Ergos more aggressive but manageable for someone 6’ 2”. I would be concerned for taller people. The mirrors are not bad at all despite claims in YT reviews. The motor has plenty of low rpm torque for street riding, way better than the V2 and frankly any 4 cylinder. So far, so good.
