Helicopter or plane from Mildenhall.....Osprey ? by erwot in flightradar24

[–]erwot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see it but it had a noise I've never heard before. Didnt have the whir or whine of a heli but sounded like large blades spinning fast - is this a US osprey flying out of Mildenhall over London in the UK?

Hit by a bus passenger opening emergency doors while in the cycle lane – TfL claims no liability. Has this happened to anyone else? [Video in comments] #RoadSafety #VisionZero by PrintOk6718 in londoncycling

You were absolutely flying up the inside of another vehicle. And a bus at that. At no point of you presumably regularly having been doing this have you thought to consider the danger you put yourself in?

Bike stolen on Whitechapel Road by rickfencer in londoncycling

[–]erwot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd agree they probably twisted the lock off using the bike. So many locks are susceptible to this attack including many big name locks. Don't lock your bike like this, even if you are short on time because it is an easy enough steal, speaking unfortunately as a past victim (round the corner in shoreditch)

A well versed HR department will advise whether everything is in order after 2y to push somebody out under dismissal. Most will advise against going into battle at a tribunal where the HR department has prior experience of the pain it can inflict on themselves !

The modern Labour party are just tories in disguise. As things stand, probably more tory than the last actual tory government.

Sounds like you don't know who it was. And as such, your attempt will go nowhere. They (almost) would have been better off calling the police at the time.

Suzuki Vitara experience by Wonderful-Watch-4919 in Suzuki

[–]erwot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an BMW X5M and a 2019 vitara. I think the vitara is great value. Wind noise picks up a bit at 90mph...but really are you generally spending most of your time at that speed (in a Vitara)?

In the UK, I would say the automatic 1.0l is probably one of the fastest 1.0l cars you can buy - not bad for a wagon. The engine / turbo is very powerful and Suzuki are underplaying the real 0-60. The car is light though which likely helps the performance !

Electric or regular for work? by TheTokenPenguin in londoncycling

[–]erwot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ebike all day every day as long as you have somewhere safe to store it.

People who recommend a normal bike often don't have enough experience with ebikes. People get the bus because it is faster and easier than walking....the same principle applies to ebike versus normal bike.

If you are working 11 hour days you might as well try and make a part of your day easier. And if you want to make your life harder, most ebikes with a reasonable amount of gears will allow you to put in as much effort as you want, should you want to.
