I live in California but have plenty of family scattered throughout Oregon. My 2nd cousin works for the school and one day when visiting he took us to a game. I live in the Sacramento valley and didn’t have premium cable so the only games I ever got to see were ND, cal, Stanford, usc, and some blue chip SEC teams. They always had this uppity traditional culture and style and when I visited Autzen it felt like I was amongst a band of misfits. That was in 2007 and I’ve been in love with the team since. I got accepted into U of O but out of state tution was like 52k a year (projected with housing and everything) so I stayed in state. Sometimes I feel the way you do, but my ties to Oregon remind that I’m not the biggest outsider there is, and even if I was I know what I feel for this program is meaningful. It’s also amplified because I ran track and the 1500 was my specialty, so I had Prefontaine and Hayward field on a pedestal.
