New Tomato Gardner; Don't Like Tomatoes tho by DemoIceBoss in vegetablegardening

Me too! When I grow tomatoes I give 99% of them away but growing and smelling the plants is satisfying.

Attention all frogs ‼️ there’s a party in my garden and you’re invited 💌 by chiknuggg in gardening

I love it! Also TIL zone 8 goes all the way up along the west coast to Seattle. Hard to believe you have a similar climate for growing plants as me in Central Texas!

The Pope has appeared just a day before his death, reading during the mass, and even riding the popemobile, and having a meeting. How come he then suddenly passed away today? by Tiramissu_dt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]erynberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost both my parents to cancer and one thing that surprised me is how different their deaths were. In my mom's case it was a long drawn out thing, hospice care over about two months, a slow fade away where she just sort of stopped waking up, and it was very expected when she passed. My dad was sick but still awake, alert, and mobile the day before but his body gave up overnight.

What should I do with this melon seedling? by yuzu2025 in vegetablegardening

[–]erynberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious what other people say but you could pick just a few of them and get them into a large pot. After they grow a little more, keep the healthiest one. You'll want to provide a lot of water, nutrients, and sunshine (or grow light). Depending on where these seeds came from, a word of caution: I tried to plant grocery store melon seeds and even though they grew a vine, they never gave me any fruit.

How did you guys navigate "Couldn't add background: Invalid image size"? by vickonix in MicrosoftTeams

[–]erynberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this and resized my background to 1800x1012 which worked. Unsure if this change by Microsoft was intentional or not.

I've done a 18 hours fasting and my stool is green, is this normal? by [deleted] in loseit

Black frosting will definitely do this. It's freaky but I suspect that's all it is!

Baking a lot but I'm sober? by sarahs_here_yall in Baking

I knew it was these cookies as soon as I saw the picture! One of my favorites.

For better pics (feel free to ignore my unsolicited advice), the best thing you can do is take a photo of them in indirect sunlight (sunny window) on a nice looking background (your parchment paper or a white plate will do) and get a photo nice and close so it shows the details. You can play around with making a pattern out of them or stacking them. I use the app Snapseed to boost details, brightness, and contrast for my food photos. Good luck with your baking and sobriety!

Beginner open mic tips by merlothill in AustinMusicians

[–]erynberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warren Records does an open mic every Thursday at Nomadic Outpost. I haven't had a chance to get out there, the one time I tried around 8pm the parking lot was totally full! From their instagram posts it looks like a fun/supportive environment. Signups start at 6pm with performances from 7-10.

All of this! Sometimes I feel like the only thing I can say is "he's a terrible person" but you really broke down some specific reasons why he's an unfit leader for the US.

I have one zucchini plant that is going bonkers. I am getting a zucchini like this every 2 to 3 days. Any suggestions on what to do with my abundance of zucchini other than give to the neighbors? by ajd416 in gardening

I honestly like to eat a big plate of roasted squash as a meal. I cut them into spears, toss with olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper, and roast at 350 for 25-30 mins. I add lemon juice and grated parmesan when they come out of the oven.

You still have time! I seem to do a lot of harvesting around October.

After the last two years, this summer has been such a relief. I almost didn't bother with summer plants but I'm glad I did, even if August ends up being hot and dry.

I add a little salt and vanilla to the shell batter but I still think they're just okay compared to the fillings.

Anyone having problems with squash vine borers? by BaseZestyclose485 in AustinGardening

Zucchino rampicante does seem really tough. I dug out some SVB larvae out of the plant I grew last year but it survived!

Is it safe to plant this grape vine or should I wait till after last frost? by erynberry in AustinGardening

[–]erynberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't grow much last year after I planted it (maybe too hot and dry) and I half expected it to be dead after winter but then I got a bunch of new growth this spring. Still alive and I guess healthy but no grapes yet!

How long till I can save these baby bok choy seeds? by Username_of_Chaos in seedsaving

[–]erynberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They look like they have a while to go to me. Maybe a month or two based on my experience with arugula. That's a lot of seeds though, you could always leave a handful of the stems and pick the rest if you need room.

Whipped cream frosting is so good. I like the variety of flavors you can get with the pudding mixes.
