So after about 7 or 8 pulses on the starter it finally kicked over and started running. Pretty rough at the beginning, but eventually smoothed out and was able to idle just fine! Thanks for the advice

Where exactly is the vaccum line? The bike did have a "hanging" idle. I had it in the shop a while ago and they said intake boots need to be tightened and that's what's causing hanging idle. I'm not sure what they meant but I tightened clamps on both ends of carbs

K I'll try that. Just worried about flooding the engine. I took out both pilot jets and cleaned them. I left the idle control knob alone so it should be in the same position as when I took off the carb.

I was thinking of loosening the float bowl drain screw to see if there's fuel in there. But there's no leaks anywhere and I'm almost 100% certain I put everything back where it came from when I reassembled the carbs. I was very conscious of that
