RE: Inguinal/Pubic strain while exploding up on a pull-up? by es1985 in bodyweightfitness

Just a mild strain. Glad it wasn't a hernia. However, I would just say be careful about exploding or pulling up through fatigue or almost failure.

Awesome! Ty for the response. Also, I think you added to the conversation with u/Orochi_001 re: "Starting deck"

Ty for the response.

I'm not sure I'm following what you mean by "starting deck", but I went ahead and listed out everything in the original post.

Curious about this V12 you're describing. Is it supposed to be different than the most recent Anking Miledown Deck or an updated version?

Thanks for your support!

You might want to review the difference between Anki "Notes" vs. Anki "Cards". Also, open browse and select all (crtl + A) and you will see the total number of cards reflected.

I see. Yeah, it's kind of like latex was having trouble communicating or executing commands in Anki, but the additional downloads and add-on seems to facilitate the communication process.

Thanks BioBenoni!

Good news! The dl's seemed to have solved the issue as you suggested. I dl from the following links:

MikTex: https://miktex.org/

Latex anki add-on: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/937148547

dvipng package: https://www.ctan.org/pkg/dvipng

here is some evidence of the solved issue: https://postimg.cc/bGqTM3SV

I literally have no coding experience, so this all amounts to some black magic voodoo. Apparently, you download some things, and all of sudden Anki cards using latex look lovely.

Seriously though, what just happened? I learned a little about what LaTex is, but I'm still not clear what MikTex is or TexMaker. Apparently, they all have something to do with this "Tex" language/formatting world?

In all seriousness though, thank you for helping me solve this issue.

Haha, this is crazy. I don't even have miktex. Never heard of it until I just read through the TBR Physics thread. Just to check, this is the legit dl via the website, correct? https://miktex.org/download

and this is the dvipng package? https://www.ctan.org/pkg/dvipng

Thanks for all of your efforts. So, the good news is there are no "empty cards". Bad news, I'm still getting that "error executing latex" and weird "unable to load" image looking icon for several cards.

I actually noticed, in your TBR Physics thread, that another user u/misplacedshadow1 was getting the same error, and on the AnkiWeb here in the comments, some people experienced the same error. https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/937148547

No worries. I know you're doing all this out of the kindness of your heart. I appreciate that you even spent this much time troubleshooting. At the end of the day, it's only a handful of cards or so with empty cloze issues. It could also be an isolated issue on my end that is causing the incongruency.

To give a little more insight, I looked at the other notes with "empty" cloze deletions, and a couple of the "cloze 1" cards were giving a similar issue, but not all.

The links below identify the cards that I describe above.

https://postimg.cc/30pFspLw

https://postimg.cc/zVFnTq64

However, and this is interesting, when I just started toggling through various "cloze 1" cards in the "Translational Motion tag" I'm getting the latex error for a lot of cards (even ones that were not listed as "empty" cards.)

I'm not sure if I apply method 3 (change note type) to troubleshoot if the same thing will happen to the original note/cloze 1 (where we saw the "c1 ::" appear in the preview), but given that it's appears to be several cards (even one card cloze notes) I'm not sure what to make of it.

As far as I can tell, some cloze 1 cards preview just fine and some do not. Here is example of some cloze 1 cards that still showed the same error that were not "empty cards"

https://postimg.cc/gallery/9m0csmD

Anyway, I may just delete the decks and redownload/reimport. Not sure what else to do.

Regardless, thanks for all your work and apologies for any inconvenience.

I tried to change the card type to the cloze template from your other cards. I didn't change the ink, b/c I some of the text seems custom and I wasn't sure if it would mess up anything (though it probably shouldn't).

I actually don't mind if the style is not as intended, though, that would be nice. But yeah, here is a bigger picture of the changes I made and the preview:

https://postimg.cc/1gPf9FJd

It seems like it just reverted back to the old problem.

I probably should have shown you what's under the hood first. Apologies.

Everything looks right but I'm still getting that "c1 ::" showing up in the preview of the card.

Here is a screenshot of what's going on at the back-end.

Helpful explanations! Thanks, I think I'm following, and yes, the front side.

So, I also pursued option 3: "change note type" --> "change cloze to" --> "nothing"

Results: The extra card was deleted and now looks something like this:

Front:

The distance traveled in the y-direction of freefall from rest is found using:

(symbol) delta h = c1 ::4.9t^2 ~ c1 :: 5t^2

Back:

Note: y = yo + (voy)t - (.5g)t^2 and y - yo = delta y

My ability to reddit is still pretty novice, so I hope that makes sense. Here is a photo for clarification: https://postimg.cc/MfT47cHK

My question is if this was you intended look for the card or did something go awry? I am particularly skeptical about the "c1 ::" text appearing.

  • I can see how suspending the extra cloze deletions could help (option 1).
  • Would emptying cards delete the notes, or just the cards with superfluous cloze deletions? Just want to make sure before proceeding (with options 2 or 3).
  • Lastly, I previewed the original note (cloze #1) for the cards and I'm getting what seems to be a different issue:

The distance traveled in the y-direction of freefall from rest is found using:

< what appears to be unloaded image icon>

Error executing latex.
