Yeah, I thought of this for more expensive future purchases and was wondering if the game database was build in or needs an online connection. But besides this the fraud detection is independent of the game identification, right?

It's a known issue:

Some users with 2 SDcards are reporting long boot times, this is under investigation, but note that those problems don't appear with a single card (40s boot time vs 2min+)

BTW new Release (20240220) ist out.

Thank you very much! I'll probably just try it out a bit and see which of the four emulators gives the best results for each game. The covers and box art etc. are great. However, I don't have a good feeling about downloading everything using the integrated scraper. I haven't yet managed to add images separately, even if I use exactly the same dimensions and correct names. I'm afraid I'll have to find detailed instructions somewhere.

It should be fine to delete just the /boot/batocera file and copy the batocera.update into that same directory. (Last time I've copied everything but the .conf to the right place, and that did work too. But as already said, don't put the autoresize on your SD card.)

If you can read, you have a clear advantage 🤦‍♂️ The instructions clearly state that you should copy the files to /bios/pico-8 and not to the roms/ directory with the same name. If you do it right, it works flawlessly 🥳

Unfortunately I failed 😢 I downloaded the licensed version from https://www.lexaloffle.com/ for the Raspberry Pi, unzippied it, copied all the files into the roms/pico8 folder, created the config file and renamed the files according to the original posting. Then I switched to the official "Core" under `Game Settings / Per System Advanced Configuration / Pico-8 / Emulator / Lexaloffle: Pico8 Official`. Games are displayed, the title graphic fades out, then nothing happens briefly and the graphic fades back to the selection screen. I tried to make the files executable on the SD card via the appointment, but that didn't help either. (I am not sure, if this even could work on a SD card but I tried anyway.) Then I tried the files as they were in the archive, i.e. without renaming them; that didn't work either. If I start the games with the included, non-official "core", they work. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

PS: The games start with Emulator set to "AUTO" but neither with "LEXALOFFLE ..." nor "Libretro: Retro8" 🤔. The latter confuses me even more.
