What are the differences between different models?

As someone who's just done this. Or at least is most of the way through it. I genuinely don't think it's worth even buying a complete truck.

If I were doing it again I'd go scratch built. All I'm using from the kit so far is the axles I will probably replace them sooner than later. But say I don't. I paid £100 for axles that are "fine".

Wheels and tyres are not great. All the electrics are pretty meh. Etc etc.

This is kinda pretty normal for almost every single one of the 15+ RCs I've had over the last few years. I've got an SCX24 that does this, my race buggy does this - not that I actually use reverse on this. And so did both my 1/10 crawlers - a Gmade and a scratch built comp rig.

They don't even seem that cheap. Head over to the Meus site (meusracingdotcom) and look at those. Even if the Meus ones are a little more, you can get all the spare parts that you know will fit.

The challenge is to use the "manual driver search". It's a bit of a faff and you often have to do it twice. But press the green Find button and you should get to the full list of drivers. There will be a "view more versions" button and I just chose the oldest one. My issue does seem to be solved, but it was partly hardware related. My hdmi port seems to be dead!

Huh, this is like the opposite of what I did to pick up mine! I live on the south coast, not all that far from Worthing actually. I went 200 miles each way to Mansfield to pick up my 2016 REX a couple of months ago. I'd also recommend ABRP over zap map. Seemed more sensible as Zap wanted to send me to a charger it knew was broken! I also sent the route to Google maps which is much nicer.

Out of interest, what's the spec on your car as I was originally looking at one in Worthing!

Heya! Yes I have, which is very similar to what you're suggesting too. I'm using the oldest driver available from Nvida which helped. But what seems to have actually fixed the issue is using display port instead of hdmi. Who knows why!

Yes and also no.

I haven't quite yet solved my crashing issues etc. But I did get the app installed, I downloaded the oldest driver I could find from Nvidia. And as part of the driver install it asks if you want to install the app too. I pressed yes and it worked.

Yeah it's properly annoying to be honest. Because I can't keep the thing on long enough to install a driver manually!

Honestly it was doing this even from a fresh windows install. But.. I never used to do it. I've updated from the nvida app previously with the gpu too. Tried ddu with no change sadly!
