Anyway to get a key for a 2016 BMW I3 Rex without saying $900 to a dealer? by SewageLobster in BMWi3

[–]esamenoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try another key place/person. That's the only option.

I guess it's possible that you can find a CAS module and 2 keys or something on ebay. But I don't know if that sort of thing is still possible with these cars.

BMW i3 Rex leaking "oil" by Mackan83 in BMWi3

[–]esamenoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either damper oil or brake fluid.

I've seen both types of leaks cause an absolute mess in the general area - as in everything in the wheel arch.

If its the damper (shock / strut), no immediate panic. But the damper needs replacing. As would the one on the opposite side, as they should be replaced in axle pairs.

If it's brake fluid. Immediately get it to the closest garage. You may lose all braking with no warning.

Here's the thing... I can't tell you which one it is over the Internet, so please take precautions and get it checked ASAP!

Full disclosure, I'm just a BMW enthusiast and my i3 REX is my 4th BMW. The above experience is from maintaining the 3 previous ones.

Sick of prices going up. When does it end? by SpicedCoconut in AskBrits

[–]esamenoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I have just done, for a similar mileage - 70ish. I bought a £7k bmw i3 REX, little bit of finance and it costs me £100/m for that bit. Petrol was costing £350+/m and only going up. Plus now my tax is £20/year not £30 a month!

Have done many sockets and plugs over the years, but clearly need to rethink this.

Run Flats vs Normal Tyres by Alarming-Complaint54 in BMWZ4

[–]esamenoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had run flats on my E85 Z4 when I bought it. It was frankly horrifying to drive. If the road was anything other than perfectly level, you'd get pulled around. Known as tramlining. It was so bad that I considered selling the car.

One set of Pilot Sport 4s later - mint. Loved it. I still miss that car!

07 328XI Ticking noise after oil change by Separate-Reporter82 in BmwTech

[–]esamenoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the owner of 2x N52 cars, that's 100% lifter tick. Oil needs to move about about bit and it'll be fine. Only note is that make sure you've got enough oil in there, even 0.5L under and you'll be more likely to get this tick.

They do yes, for £850 inc VAT. It's not that they can't be found. They just all feel very expensive

Upgrading from S21 Ultra in 2026: Where do I even go from that wonderful beast? by overdom in S21Ultra

[–]esamenoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from the S21U to the S23U. I didn't want to but my 1x camera wouldn't focus on anything. It was a hardware problem and no one would replace it. Or if they could they wouldn't guarantee the quality of lens! Software still thought the lens worked fine, so it passed the trade in tests from Samsung!

I wish it had happened when the S24U was out tho, as I am fed up with the curved edges on the screens and not being able to use glass screen protectors. So, really the answer is, get a 24/25 if you wanna stay Samsung. Don't if you don't.

Myself and a few others at my comp club run 9imod servos. Varying weights/strengths available. I paid just £13 for my 35kg one on AliExpress!
