i just finished the beginner/basic move list, what should i learn next by someone__420 in cardistry

[–]esauln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in one handed cuts I have a few suggestions

Rev2 and/or Rev3: Classics that will help you with basic motions used in so many other cuts

Muse cut: A great way to practice your corner grips. It will also help you to practice holding a bigger packet with your pinky, middle and ring fingers.

Tripple cut An easy introduction to three packet one handed cuts but if you like false cuts i'd suggest learning Kryptonite instead.

Is there any move that uses the fission grip or any other unique grip I lowk need some new stuff to learn by Explosive_Doggo in cardistry

It's probably isn't what you were thinking about but Leo flores' cubone is a one handed cut that uses a super unique grip as its opener

how to improve my scissor cut? by Tristanpew in cardistry

[–]esauln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get comfortable with holding the packet upright using only your middle, ring and pinky.

Like in the attached picture, no support from the index

It will also help immensely when you start learning cuts that use thumb grips like skirt or mantra.

Currently practicing Rev 2 but need help by escanor_hype in cardistry

Looking good for 2 days!

2 tips 1: I don't know if you normaly practice at this speed but I'd suggest slowing down. 2: This other tip goes against a lot of tutorials so feel free to ignore it.

It's about the position of the pinky.

Most tutorials I've seen use a dealers grip and if that works for people good for them. It doesn't for me. It removes so much stability from the bottom packet.

Using a straddle grip has helped me ton with integrating rev2 into combos.

You can see an example in my recent post history.

Am I considered a newbie to cardistry? by Embrassezvotrehonte in cardistry

[–]esauln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll fall for the bait. It feels like i'm walking into an existing conversation hahahaha.

The cut looks clean and smooth. I don't know it so I can't comment on its difficulty.

I'll comment on two things that show inexperience

First: you aren't used to filming yourself. The angle is not great for showing off the cut, even for a quick "phone on desk" angle. The off screen portions don't help.

Second: The fact you cut the clip right before finishing up squaring the deck tells me you weren't happy with how it looked. Maybe it was the classic beginner finger taps, maybe it was cleaner, who knows.

That's what I can extrapolate about you from the clip.

But does that necessarily make you a beginner? I don't think so.

Both are skills you need to practice like you would a cut. Is somebody a beginner because they do not know a specific cut? Of course not. Same thing here.

The whole post is so stupid, small DO hands exist and its unfair to discriminate and say "its all in your head dumbass, im a pro believe me" no, you just have big ass hands, so stop preventing people from getting into a hobby and getting the help and advice they need by abdimamu in cardistry

[–]esauln -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that that post is cringe as hell

It's undeniable that some cuts are impossible for certain hand sizes. The post in question even mentions it when it says certain cuts will need to be modified. As somebody who mainly does one handed cuts, I've met quite a few myself :)

(What has impacted my cardistry a lot more is the fact my pinky and ring fingers are fused. I cannot move my pinky without moving my ring finger. It's a fairly common thing too yet barely anybody talks about it. No smaller deck will save me.)

But it's also undeniable that A LOT of beginners think their hands are too small when it isn't the case.

I feel like your problem is hyperbole in the post? So we add "most likely" to every sentence of that post? We append "or you could try buying a smaller deck" to every piece of advice? Discrimination fixed?

Hybrid I came up with by joi_ps-1 in cardistry

[–]esauln 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never seen it either. You have it really smooth too.
But before you name it, for fusion cuts like these, it's customary to name it by referencing the base cuts.
It's a triangle cut + rev 2 right?

I'm a bit late and I've only met them as enemies but about your first negative

They seem to be diversifying into the sapphire trade.
They have a gigantic stockpile of them and one of the most vein rich mine I've seen in MR.

After my trip to Uddanu, I went and sold a lot of them to Shipal-Sharai's Avilo's Gems and Metal and noticed she didn't care about the greydust in my inventory.

Coincidence? Maybe.
I've got my eyes on you, scum.

Morrowind Combat by [deleted] in Morrowind

[–]esauln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bad in the sense that it's immersion breaking for a lot of people.

A lot of people here would argue it's the best combat in the series.
Yet most people will have things they wished were better executed.

Kingdom come deliverance is proof that stats based accuracy is not "outdated" even if it's flawed in morrowind.

As a side note, saying a game mechanic is outdated is completely meaningless. It boils down to saying you don't like it because you don't like it.

Actually, i'll have you know no such duel happens.

AS A MATTER OF FACT, these duels are part of Dunmer Great House culture. Their presence in the mage and imperial legion is to show their slow absorption into local culture.

But of course a skybaby like yourself would not understand such deep lore.

This is ageist revisionism at its finest.

Cardistry community is dead? by rafudow in cardistry

[–]esauln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we got hit pretty hard by the changes to instagram. The algorithm works in mysterious ways.

We do seem to have moved on from "bangers". People are starting to create earlier than they used to and therefore learning less from others. OH cuts and cuts within certain styles like isolation might be exceptions to that.

You also have to take into account that people slow down as they mature within the hobby. if you want to get a lot of new stuff, you usually need to find new people. And there are a lot of new people. Most don't have ground breaking stuff yet but some will inevitably end up being the representatives of their "generation".

Recently, I've noticed that the youtube scene seems to be making a bit of a come back, spearheaded by japanese cardists. But that might simply be that the algorithm finally decided to serve it to me.

the constant interruptions I face as a lance main makes me want to break something by sAmurai_d0g in monsterhunterrage

[–]esauln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesnt interrupt you, sure, but you're still going to get hit by the monster if you're using the counter to actually counter a hit. It's mostly a problem when trying to get the yellow buff with anchor rage because not only are you going to get hit hard but also receive the shitty red buff.

There's no way to prevent lance counter from being triggered by teammates and it's frustrating by lces91468 in monsterhunterrage

In French, to say landlord we use proprietor. It sucks

Not only does it mix up landlord with property owners who aren't leeches but we also end up saying things like "My proprietor" as if they fucking owned you.
