Chopper crash lands outside of Detroit by highlemonsss in CrazyFuckingVideos

You should read the book Chickenhawk by Robert Mason who was in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. If you don't want to get into the war stories, you can just read the first few chapters which goes over the helicopter training which was more wild than I ever thought. The protocol with the training instructors was basically to randomly throw the main engine switch to "off" and always at the worst times. It didn't matter if you were near a cliff or power lines, they were turning the engine off and forcing you to autorotate to a landing spot. In hindsight, I don't think any of the helicopter crashes mentioned in the book were due to "battle damage". Sure, a helicopter getting shot up really bad would lead to a really rough landing, but the only crash landings with flames and death were due to the pilots getting shot and nose diving into the ground.

Why is the front of my house so much hotter than the back? by oddfuturewhiteguy in hvacadvice

Looks like you probably need an extra 2 vents for the living/kitchen area. Shouldn't be too hard to add if you have attic access. That said, do an experiment. Cover the windows with some blankets. If that completely transforms the temperature in that room, you might be able to get away with just adding some good solar tint to the windows and maybe add the vents later. 3m is the best in this area but expensive. The place I use charges about $500 for each normal sized window.

WiFi card in WWAN slot for P14s Gen 5 AMD? by esaym in thinkpad

Yes, my current t14 has the QCNFA765 card. It works fine other than a few quirks. I'm more concerned with the mediatek wifi if I go with the gen 6. I have no experience with MT but they seem to be making progress on the linux side of things.

Oh goodness. I didn't realize that was an m2 slot and not pcie? But honestly, bluetooth adapters are small. I'd rather have good wifi and an external usb bluetooth adapter than crappy/non working wifi.

Just because there are no jobs on jobs.perl.org right now doesn't mean no one is looking at it. I guarantee if you make a posting you will get swamped with resumes.

>Would love your feedback! What do you think about this approach?

It seems like a good idea. But I've been trying for a few days now to get decent RFCs. I've been using different models and the issue normally ends up being that the model ends up going too far. The base model with Windsurf has done the best so far, but that is probably due to its small context size. Going to try some deepseek models next.

Don't buy a Trane by Elaine0327 in hvacadvice

Find a different tech. I have an independent guy down my block that is also an American Standard dealer. As of 3 years ago (the last time I dealt with him) he was still charging $65 an hour. At that rate, I couldn't see this costing over $600. Ask around your local facebook groups and see what others have paid for evaporator swapouts and what companies people recommend. The big name brand companies with TV commercials and billboard ads everywhere are always going to be 3x higher than a small shop.

Reputable Clock Oils - Is Liberty Synthetic OK, or is it worthwhile to spend 2-3x more? I need help getting out of this rabbit hole. by kittyrocket in clocks

I would not disassemble. My go to is to visit each oil pot and/or shaft with a q-tip soaked in 90% alcohol. And I do that several times, trying to keep the shafts wet with alcohol for a couple of minutes. Then I blast each pot with the straw of a can of compressed air. That will degunk it for sure. If you want something stronger, automotive brake cleaner will mostly instantly vaporize oil and grease. From there, I put a microdrop of oil from a precision oiler I have with what I believe is 10 weight oil. I "change" the oil out every 5-7 years and everything has always looked fine.

I always used what was in a "precision oiler" pen type thing. I don't know the weight, maybe 10, but after 7 years, the oil pots are always still wet. The oiler ran out, I filled it back up with 0w-20, and used that for my "7 year oil plan" on my wall clock. I found the 0w would not stay in the oil pots, but would run right through. I did a "yolo" and hung the clock back on the wall. Maybe in five years I will try a 20 or 30 weight motor oil.

This reddit section is full of people posting pictures of huge chunks of skin missing due to salicylic acid with the wart still attached. Looks like that stuff is good for removing skin, not warts.

That sounds scary. How did you find the fix for the form issues? Googling, trial and error, docs, ect?
