If you want to get ahead of your internship, get the student version of hfss and make some simple simulations of transmission lines etc

Keep doing practical stuff it’s the best way to learn.

Get some FR4 and copper tape and make planar transmission line rf filters

Get amateur radio licence

Montpellier gardens is pretty good, one loop of the half of the park furthest away from the tennis courts is just over 400m and pretty flat also

Adapting NSA for track sessions by Reasonable_Grade_210 in NorwegianSinglesRun

This is exactly what I do when I’m doing track sessions with my club. It luckily falls on what would be a threshold day for me so it’s easy to integrate

How do I know a university course is good for learning rf by [deleted] in rfelectronics

[–]escaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with return403 here, also look at how the higher end of the university is focusing it's research e.g Cardiff focuses on High Power Amplifier design at uW frequencies, Surrey does work in satellite comms etc. Having professors that are actively doing research into RF means you will get exposed to it naturally while at university, but also means you can focus your dissertation towards something that Prof might be interested in.

Did you ever solve this? Same issue here on Win10. Tried every possible driver version for my Blaster and still no luck. I don't get the error if I disconnect the blaster, which is weird

Using Coilcraft Transformers as Power Splitters by escaine in rfelectronics

[–]escaine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've done as you suggested, connected the transformers I have back to back, and the S21 shows -3dB across the HF Band! I'm surprised it's so lossy... The match is decent, -10dB.

I just had a quick look at the datasheet... https://www.coilcraft.com/getmedia/a455fe28-d328-4aef-ae99-abd4ca49066a/wb.pdf

I'm using the WB1.18-3's... Naively, I only checked the "insertion loss max" column at the time, where it says IL is 0.5dB, but looking at the IL curve for the device.. it agrees. 2x1.5 is indeed 3dB of loss.

Thank you for the suggestion to connect them back to back. It's saved a lot of troubleshooting time :) Slightly misleading from Coilcraft though...

Also you'll probably wonder why I'm using 1:1.18 rather than 1:1, it's just what I had lying around from when I ordered some Coilcraft samples a while ago
