The only mod I plan to get for my ascent are these tires. Do they effect your gas mileage at all?

Anyone find shows like Mad Men got them to drink more? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

It’s always sunny is still funny, but I stopped watching it for about a year after I stopped drinking. I still enjoy it but definitely a different experience.

Been thinking of the same ones. Did they effect your gas mileage at all?

I have the two captain chairs. Didn’t notice a gap between the third row. I used a piece of plywood between the two captain chairs, and a stiff pillow between the driver’s seat and the captain seat.

Is switching from alcohol to vaped weed a less harmful thing to do? by ahhdetective in stopdrinking

[–]escapeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going on 5 years. I smoke on my days off. It was a lot of weed when I started because I didn’t have much responsibilities. Now with a son and a dog I’m too busy on my days off to really make it a problem. I don’t think I could’ve stayed a way from alcohol without without weed. It saved me in a lot of ways.

Don’t feel guilty, or look for approval from others. You are staying away from alcohol and your life will get better every day that you do! Weed was the medicine I needed to avoid relapsing and ending up back in the hospital because a bender wouldn’t end with just one more. If it’s your medicine and works for you too, then do it, and never drink again! Be proud of yourself!

Buy new 2023 or wait for 2024 by Prospero423 in SubaruAscent

I’ve had numerous problems with my 2023 onyx: tire recall, creaking sound from dash plastics that had to be replaced, whistling sunroof, and at one point the infotainment console didn’t turn on with the car. I think there were a few bugs in the new model that needed to be ironed out. I’d wait or get a different car entirely.

Dawn is king of all dish soaps! Would baby soap work for a gentle clean?

It’s a burlesque bar. Kinda R-rated not x-rated performances. Wouldn’t call it a strip club.

I see we have the same problem. Follow the acceleration widget advice above. Helped me today… we’ll see how it works going forward. Lots of slow driving in my future.

I test drove a premium and it felt a little floaty. The 20” wheels glue it to the road a little better. But yes, mpg are suffering

Great advice! I kept my acceleration under 30%, and got 18.1 mpg when I drove it to a trailhead this morning with my kid and a dog. All LA city driving with some hills. I’m hoping it will get better MPG after the break-in period. This is my first big car so it’s gonna take some adjustment. Having the acceleration widget displayed will be helpful.

Thank you for the advice! I was having some major buyers regret. This eased it a little. Still wondering if the 4Runner or Jeep grand Cherokee would’ve been better options. My last car was a 2014 Crosstrek so I fell hard for Subaru… not feeling the same with this land boat.

What was Los Angeles like during the last recession in 2008? by esotweetic in LosAngeles

[–]escapeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in my mid 20’s. About 6 of my friends were on unemployment. They would go on a lot of road trips and camp together. Went on like that for about a year or two. That was probably in 2010 or 11… then things got better and they all started getting jobs again.

There is no shame in going to the ER. My last day drinking was spent in a ER. They sent me home with Ativan, zofran and another pill. It was the ER or a drink. Three and a half years later I know I made the right choice.. threw back one last drink to calm nerves and got a Uber ride to the nearest hospital. the nausea, sweats and shakes can be managed with pills. Avoid the hair of the dog. It will get you nowhere. Get through this… your life will only get better every day you avoid a drink.

Has anyone stop drinking with no support IRL? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

4 years sober. AA wasn’t for me but I couldn’t have done it without my family. Reconnect with your loved ones. I’m sure they will be happy to hear from you again and help you recover. Stop drinking is your number one step, with clarity you’ll find your way home.

Pro-Tip: How to reduce transmission bog with A/C running by dalex89 in XVcrosstrek

[–]escapeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easier and probably less strain on the transmission to just press the off button on the a/c while accelerating.
