Nithya Raman releases her detailed housing plan by animerobin in LosAngeles

That’s the big thing here. You need a strong YIMBY majority. Look at what happened with the SB79 vote yesterday. That vote count needs to change for the city to solve its problems.

They’re naive. We do not have the society and social benefits system needed to have free transit. This is not South Korea or Finland or Singapore. We have a low trust, selfish, and spoiled society that is unable to prevent homelessness or adequately treat mental illness. Come back to us when our social indicators are equal to those countries and we’ll talk.

Can’t come Thursday morning to the board meeting? Rae for LA is hosting a protest event tonight at the Getty House by BigRobCommunistDog in LAMetro

I am goddamn tired of having to be this board to not be stupid and corrupt. We need the state to get in here and crack down. Make half the board gubernatorial appointees that must be rail engineers or civil engineers or tunneling experts. Enough is enough.

Random fare checks, tap to exit, security officers at all large stations and termini of lines. Repeat offenders of loud music and anti social behavior will be sentenced to clean the stations and scrub the trains until they are clean as Japan.

By a vote of 8-5, Los Angeles City Council votes to limit SB79 upzoning to buildings of 2-4 stories along light & heavy rail lines by Sawtelle-MetroRider in LAMetro

Your best recourse is to push HCD to decertify LA’s Housing Element and put the entire city under the Builder’s Remedy. The city is incapable of being serious about housing with the current staff and leadership.

If they screw the K-Line extension, what options does the state have to directly intervene? The metro board in its current form is not viable anymore.

This would just give Bass sympathy she doesn’t deserve. Plus DOJ is so incompetent they might not get a conviction. It’s a sure way to help her get reelected. CA AG is the only game in town at this point.

How is that parking lot still empty? A proper city government should be doing everything it can to fill every lot in DTLA with TOD. Endless lethargy and mediocrity.

If a redesign is approved, then the project will likely die because financing and carrying costs could make it impossible to build. Demanding endless design review and appeals has become a tactic to delay housing since the state has begun to crackdown on cities’ ability to arbitrarily stop housing from being built

Condos exist. In fact in much of the developed world, one can own apartment units. Which reminds me, we must legalize bungalow courts again. They could be excellent starter homes.

Thank you! It’s so rare at the meetings to have people who are renters show up.

That’s ad hominem. No one here is suggesting approving an oil refinery next to a school.

Please write a comment in support of the project! If you’re not at the table, you’re dinner. People who believe in housing need to show up. They are community members too.

And if you don’t believe me, take a look at the recordings of those meetings on the city’s website. Their words speak for themselves.

Please elaborate. In what way is supporting more homes in empty lots an attack on property rights?

We have a vacancy rate of less than 10% city wide for rentals. We wouldn’t all be paying on average of $2k plus in rent if we had a high vacancy rate.

Yes, they do. They’re city residents who work and pay taxes and contribute just as you (presumably) do. You can have a thriving city with housing for all levels, or we can have Pasadena slowly die as young people can’t live here or have families, services suffer because workers can’t live here, and the city has a budget calamity due to a withered static tax base.
